I just had to write you to tell you what the first two shows were like today for the premiere of Spielberg’s THE FABELMANS.
Here’s a sampling of the incredible reactions from the audience leaving the 1pm show:
'I Loved it!'
'Great!!!'
'I would recommend it to everyone'
'Fabelmans? FABULOUS!!'
'I want to see it again!'
'Best movie I have seen since the pandemic... cried many tears. Good tears.'
'Telling my friends to come to the State and see it!'
Wow. The 4pm crowd has now just been seated and the curtain is rising. We have not had a Wednesday afternoon audience this big since we’ve reopened!
I am so grateful to Universal Pictures for letting a “small market” such as ours show this film that, like most Oscar contenders, often do a slow roll-out across the country over many weeks with a prestige film like THE FABELMANS. There’s no other Michigan theater within 122 miles showing THE FABERMANS until the next month or until January. So we are grateful to be recognized by the studio as that special theater that we have been for the past 15 years.
I also want to thank Steven Spielberg. For all the obvious reasons. Thank you, Steven — for this and for all you have done in your 50-year career.
Finally, thanks to the amazing screenwriter, the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning writer who wrote THE FABERMANS, the great Tony Kushner. He also wrote Spielberg’s “Lincoln” and is the playwright who gave us the masterpiece, “Angels in America.”
Come on down to the State Theatre and see one of the best films of the year — THE FABELMANS. Take advantage of the fact that we here in TC have been granted the gift of having this be our Thanksgiving film for 2022. The movie we should all see together.
