A joyful season to you and yours

As we get ready to welcome another year, we'd like to thank all of you for supporting, promoting, and practicing person-centered care – helping to improve quality of life for people with hearing loss everywhere.

Warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year from all of us at the Ida Institute.

Top 3 courses in 2022

This year, more than 3,500 individuals nurtured their commitment to great hearing care by completing our free Learning Hall courses. Active Listening and Empathy were the most popular courses, followed closely by Clinician Well-being: The Science of Self-care.

New ways to help your client

In 2022, we added two new tools to our portfolio of professional resources:

The Online Appointments Starter Kit takes you through the key steps of planning, offering, and delivering appointments online so you can get started with remote care while still ensuring a person-centered experience.

Partnering for Great Hearing Care provides a guide for clients and clinicians to work together. The guide describes four fundamental building blocks for getting the best outcomes in a clinical encounter and offers practical tips for how to implement them.

Out now: new guideline from ASHA

Great news: The Aural Rehabilitation Clinical Practice Guideline by ASHA is now available. Senior Audiologist Cherilee Rutherford from the Ida Institute had the pleasure of contributing to this evidence-based guideline, intended to inform the implementation of person-centered AR to adults with hearing loss.

Rutherford says, “We are so thrilled to see the strong focus on PCC in this professional guideline from ASHA. We hope that it will continue to inspire clinicians to be intentionally person-centered and encourage persons with hearing loss to insist on this type of care. It was an honor to be a part of such a rigorous and professional process, under the immensely capable leadership of the ASHA team.”
