Flourishing through faith, hope and love

This week at school

We've finally made it to the end of term! The children have been brilliant and have kept going despite all tiredness and illness that has been going around. Huge credit to the amazing St Mary's staff team who have done such a great job supporting the children this term. We're all looking forward to a well-earned rest!

The two nativity plays at school this week were so special. On Tuesday, the Year 1 and 2 children wowed us with 'Children of the World', a Christmas journey celebrating the birth of Jesus and exploring different Christmas traditions. The speaking, acting and singing was amazing! Well done to all who put the show together.

Our wonderful Reception children followed up on Wednesday with the 'Big Little Nativity', which was also amazing! we can't believe the children have only been in school for one term - the confidence they showed in performing was remarkable and there wasn't a dry eye in the house! Well done everyone.

On Wednesday afternoon, we even managed to squeeze in a 1940s-thmed dance competition in Year 6, where all the children competed in couples, showcasing their amazing dance moves! Well done to Eleanor and Nathan, our winners for 2022! Picture above.

On Thursday, we had a brilliant afternoon in the hall, where we were entertained by Doug Horley and his 'Crazy Science' workshop! There were also some lovely, clever links to the Christmas story. The children and adults all thoroughly enjoyed this end of term treat. Picture above.

On Friday morning, our amazing school choir serenaded us with Christmas carols in the pavilion, as the children were dropped off to school. Huge thanks to Mr Burkey and the children for this uplifting and festive performance! Picture above.

We finished the term at St Mary's church on Friday, where the choir performed and Year 6 led us in an exploration of the meaning of Christmas through three special presents! It was so good to all be together before breaking up for the Christmas holidays.

Year 6 Christmas fair

A huge well done to all the Year 6 children and their families for putting on a brilliant Christmas fair in the hall last Friday. It was extremely well attended and the children raised over £500! Pictures below.

As part of year 6’s continued effort to raise money for their leaver events, they will be holding a 2nd hand book fair in the spring term. They will be accepting donations of both adult and children’s books after Christmas, so could you please all bare this in mind for the new year.

Mrs Nesbit

We are delighted to share with you the good news that Mrs Nesbit's baby, Rosie Annabelle, was delivered safely on Monday afternoon. Mum, dad and baby are all doing well and looking forward to their first Christmas together. We are so delighted for Mrs Nesbit and can't wait to meet baby here at school sometime in the New Year! Picture included below.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you all SO much for the presents and cards. We are so grateful for your kindness and support. Using the words from our Christmas service earlier today, this is our Christmas prayer for you all...

May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child. May God the Father bless you now and forever.

Amen

Have a great Christmas break and God bless you all,

Matt White
