At the 2022 ISAPP annual meeting, scientists across academia and industry participated in an interactive session to discuss the past, present and future of the biotics field of science. This post summarizes the main points coming from the small-group discussions, providing a brief overview of how the field has evolved and priorities for the future.

The purpose of the panel debate was to advance discussion about postbiotics in the aftermath of some published disagreement about ISAPP's published definition of postbiotics.

ISAPP announces the winner of the 2023 Glenn Gibson Early Career Researcher Prize: Paul Gill, PhD, Research Fellow at University College London, UK. His work investigates links between diet and the immune system – in particular, how short-chain fatty acids affect immunity in healthy individuals.
