This Weekend
Admission is free but there is a charge for parking. Carpooling is recommended.
Remember when we had fresh flowers every Sunday for worship? The fresh flowers are returning on January 8. Here's how it works....

  1. Go to the Flower Sign Up poster in the narthex.
  2. Write your name next the date you would like to sponser the altar flowers.
  3. Take the flowers home after church. You paid for them, they are yours.
  4. Sponsors pay to cover the cost of the bouquet at the beginning of the month.
As most of you are aware, our long-time florist retired last year. They were very generous in keeping our cost the same for approximately 15 years! The cost of flower arrangements has risen significantly in that time and we must make concessions to keep the cost down. Cal Poly Floral will provide arrangements for us in January for $50 for one bouquet.

Please contact MaryAnn in the church office with any questions.
Pastor Richard leads this special "Longest Night" worship. This service will be especially meaningful to those who are missing loved ones at this time of year.

The service follows our Soup Supper. All are invited to attend.

UPDATE - DECEMBER 13, 2022
Last summer at the Congregation Annual Meeting, we agreed to raise $40,000 in addition to the budget for needed maintenance of the church building.   So far, a total of $38,760 has been donated and armed with it plus planned budget funds, reroofing of the buildings, addition of rain gutters and improved drainage has been accomplished.  The result was that after the intense rains this past weekend, we came into the church Sunday morning to find the entire building dry—no roof leaks, no water through the walls and no drips around the heaters.  What great progress over past problem s we have seen!

Now we have the small amount of about $1200 left to finish the $40,000 goal.  Yes, we have been able to do most the needed repairs without it but there will probably be more work  needed in the future. We ask you to please help put us over the goal by the end of December.  Donation checks to Mt Carmel should identify “Building Maintenance” or simply “Raise the Roof” and thanks from a dry building.

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV).

Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties.

Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by their Stephen Leaders to offer care to people who are hurting. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour.

Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation.

Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

Since 1975, more than 600,000 people from more than 13,000 congregations and other
organizations have been trained as Stephen Ministers.

In SLO county Stephen Ministry is coordinated in an ecumenical manner with participation from Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, Roman Catholics, and others. We find strength in numbers and a mutual desire to help.

Training is done by trained leaders, clergy and lay who have many years experience. In January, a new training session will be offered. Please contact Sandy Rowland, 805-296-9609, a Stephen Minister in our congregation for information about participating in this new class. You can also contact Canon Mark Hall, 209-609-7044, who leads our county-wide group.
