Alumni Spotlight:
Judy Foster & Bill Tackitt

Judy Foster and her brother, Bill Tackitt, have a connection with the north Everett Boys & Girls’ Club that dates back 63 years. Judy was hired by Norm Taylor, the Club Director, to be his first Club Administrator -- Judy was a senior in the Business program at Everett High School and spent her time at the 12th Street Club keeping things organized for the afterschool rush.  Back then, Judy recalls that the “Boys’ Club,” as it was called back then, was frequented by only boys.  Interestingly, her brother, who is seven years younger than Judy, recalls it differently.

Judy’s brother, Billy Tackitt would attend the club two to three times a week to hang out with the boys, as well as, the girls, play some pool, ping-pong and hone his skills for his real love at the time—boxing.  Starting in the 6th grade, Billy would jump on his ten-speed and bike a mile to the Club to be trained for boxing competitions, so that he could take on other youngsters from around Snohomish County and as far away as Seattle.  The mindset the young scrapper developed in the boxing ring would serve him well as he later made a name for himself in the local restaurant industry.

Today, Bill and his other sister, Delores Robinson, eventually built a niche for themselves with their Buzz Inn Steakhouses that are located throughout the same county where he used to take on all challengers.
There are many more kids in our community who need a safe, positive place when they’re not at home or school. A place where they can have fun with their peers and be guided by trained youth development professionals. Now through December, your donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County will ensure that kids and families can continue to depend on the Clubs. From access to food, to help with homework, to building relationships with positive adult role-models – to making life-long friends.
