This week, the Avalon School Board approved closure of the school on Monday, January 2, to observe the New Year holiday. As a result, school will resume on Tuesday, January 3, not Monday Jan 2, as was previously published.
We still have many covid rapid tests for families who want them. They can be picked up any time from the front office.
We hope all of our Avalonians have a fun, rejuvenating break from school: hanging with friends and family, making cookies, sledding and skating, reading, making art. maybe even building a snowperson! Share your pictures of winter break fun to office@avalonschool.org for use in a January newsletter!
Take Driver's Education over Winter Break!
A+ Driving School will continue to offer Driver's Education Virtually (For Students who are 14 years of age and older). Need to miss a few classes? No problem, A Plus has easy make-up classes too.
All families should have received information about ordering photos from both original picture day and retake day. If you did not receive an email with instructions on how to order, please contact the photography studio at info@k-photography.com
Student IDs were distributed at school. Any students who did not get a picture taken but need an ID should contact Barb at school or at barb@avalonschool.org.
January School Meal Ordering Info

Breakfasts are cold and generally consist of some kind of pastry or cereal, with fruit and milk. We offer hot lunches that include an entree, fruit and vegetable choices, and milk.
Invoices for November meals have gone out along with instructions for how to pay by check or paypal.
If you believe that you qualify for free/reduced meals, but have not received confirmation of this from Avalon, or need help working out a payment plan, or have any other questions please contact barb@avalonschool.org
Give to the Max
Hi, Avalon! Only five more donors are needed to reach our goal of 150 donors. If you have donated, thank you! If you have not, donate today, any amount. That money will be used for school plays, projects, books -- anything that supports student learning.
The pottery wheels had a test run last week! We are ALMOST ready for ceramics classes to begin!
Winter Sports
Sports registration is now closed, and the season is underway! We had a snowy early season, but the rain this week won't help our efforts to get out on snow.
Masks for school Avalon will follow the CDC masking guidelines. Avalon will monitor Ramsey County levels weekly and follow CDC guidance for indoor masking. The county monitor can be found here: County Levels. All staff, students, and community members may choose to mask at any time and Avalon can provide masks to students who request them.
