Launch of the new 

Refugee Health and Wellbeing Policy and Action Plan for Queensland

The CALD Communities Health Engagement Celebration - Dec 15th, 2022

Last night was a night of celebration to reflect on the challenges, achievements, and learnings of COVID-19 and look towards the future.

  • The Hon. Yvette D'Ath MP Minister for Health and Ambulance Services provided the opening address and along with Hon. Cameron Dick MP, Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment and Dr McKinlay, Deputy Chief Health Officer presented certificates to CALD COVID Health and Engagement Project (CCHEP) reference group members and the steering group organisations.

  • Dr Bridget Abell from QUT presented the findings from the CCHEP Evaluation Report which gives an overview of the CCHEP activities and impact on the CALD community in Queensland.  Read the Summary Evaluation and Full CCHEP Evaluation Report
  • Jasmina Joldić PSM, Associate Director-General, Queensland Health talked about the future focus for Multicultural Health and launched the 2nd Refugee Health and Wellbeing Policy and Action Plan (2022-2027). View the new Policy and Action Plan here 
  • The CALD Communities Engagement Framework and Toolkit  - Lessons learnt from COVID-19 (developed by Andrea Obeyereskere  Centacare FNQ and Paul Schmidt with partners) was also announced with the final framework to be virtually launched early in the new year. View the Summary here.
