Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing holiday

2022 has been an amazing year for the recovery of campus life and student activity. As we come to the end of Semester 2, there has been a great deal of planning to ensure that we are ready to welcome everyone back to the University of Sydney in 2023.

As we are on the verge of returning to face-to-face teaching, we are excited to welcome all new and returning postgraduate students in the upcoming year. SUPRA will be ready to help all postgraduate students with the next steps in their education journey.

I would like to thank our lovely SUPRA staff, the hardworking SUPRA council and all SUPRA members for your tremendous efforts and contributions to the postgraduate community over the past year. Together, we have overcome many challenges and uncertainties, and continued to thrive as a community.

I'd also like to congratulate those who are graduating – it has been challenging to navigate through online teaching, virtual meetings, and the many other changes to life and study during the pandemic. Despite all these challenges, you have earned yourself a prestigious degree and a well-deserved break. Your perseverance and excellence will serve you well in your future careers.

On behalf of all of SUPRA, I send our warmest wishes to all postgraduate students. Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing holiday with your family and friends. We are excited to connect with you in the coming year.

Warmest regards,

Weihong Liang
SUPRA President

SUPRA is closed

SUPRA is closed from midday on Thursday 22 December until 9am Monday 9 January 2023 (Sydney time) for the University end-of-year closure.

If you contact us during this time, we will respond to you when we re-open. Please allow up to 2 working days for a reply after we re-open, as we receive a large volume of enquiries during the shutdown period.

If you need information about an academic issue while we are closed, please visit the Get help or HDR Hub pages of our website. They contain useful information about almost any academic issue you might have.

The University is closed

The University shuts down from 23 December to 8 January 2023 (inclusive). It re-opens on Monday 9 January 2023. This period doesn’t count towards any appeal, academic dishonesty or Show Good Cause deadlines. The University won’t expect you to respond during this period.

The Student Centre is open (phone and online enquiries only)

The Student Centre will be closed on all public holidays and weekends but will still be operating 7am – 7pm during the University shutdown, for phone and online enquiries only. Contact the Student Centre.

Show Good Cause

If you have been asked to Show Good Cause at the end of semester 2 2022, the University will not act on your case during the shutdown period. One of our professional caseworkers will be able to advise and assist you when we re-open.

Please read the Show Cause information on our website:

Academic appeals

If you are unhappy with your final mark and you want to appeal, you have 15 working days from the date you received your grades to start your appeal. This does not include any days between 23 December 2022 and 8 January 2023 (inclusive) when most of the University is shut down for the end-of-year break.

For final exam and assessment results published on 14 December 2022, the deadline to start an appeal is Tuesday 17 January 2023.

Find out more about making an appeal:
If you need help with your appeal, our casework service will be happy to help you once we re-open.
