I hope you and your family are having a festive holiday season. In this time of coming together, please allow me to share with you some highlights of our work over the past year.
During March, we published, “Buying In,” which identified opportunities for increasing homeownership in Detroit. This was followed in May by our “Middle Wage Jobs” brief, which looked at ways to grow and attract middle wage employment in our community.
With the warmer weather, it was possible to continue construction with our partners on the “Elmwood Circle Forest.” In September, we hosted our “Third Annual Economic Equity Forum,” through which we explored restorative practices to build an economically whole Detroit.
In the coming year, we are planning a host of land use, community development, and economic equity initiatives, including development of a neighborhood greenway first conceived here, publication of new research to inform equitable access to growth occupations, and support for employment equity efforts that are part of the region’s game changing GEM initiative.
If you like or feel that you and the community benefit from the work we are doing, we invite you to support us with a financial contribution, which allows us to sustain and grow our efforts in the year ahead. Thank you for helping us improve quality of life for all Detroiters and a very happy holiday season to you and yours.
