We welcome submissions for the 4th annual Conference on the Economics of Crime and Justice. This year’s conference will be held in Chicago on May 19-20, 2023. We aim to assemble scholars from around the world to discuss recent work on issues involving the economics of crime and the criminal justice system. Applications have opened for two 2023 summer programs - the Expanding Diversity in Economics Summer Institute and Price Theory Summer Camp.

Expanding Diversity in Economics Summer Institute

EDE, which will run from June 8 – 30, 2023, is designed to identify and support talented undergraduate students from a broad range of backgrounds interested in the study of economics. As a new addition to EDE this year, the last week of programming will send students to Washington, DC, hosted by the Brookings Institution’s Hutchins Center.

Price Theory Summer Camp

Price Theory Summer Camp, which will run from June 25 – 29, 2023, introduces PhD students from outside the University of Chicago to price theory, which emphasizes the application of basic economic tools to problems. Participants hear lectures from UChicago and visiting faculty and experience a series of “Chicago-style” seminars where faculty presented their research in progress.
