As a member of our Cleantech Innovation Portal community, I am happy to introduce our new series - “People of the Portal“.

The focus of this series is both on highlighting the innovative and entrepreneurial members of the Cleantech Commons Cleantech Innovation Portal as well as celebrating the outstanding achievements of Portal members.

This week, we are delighted to let you know that a Cleantech Innovation Portal client – and also a future Cleantech Commons tenant – Carbonix, has been recognized as a 2023 “Clean50” company for its exceptional contribution to the clean economy. Click here to read more!

Paul Pede, President and CEO of Carbonix Inc. was presented with the Clean50 award in the “Research & Development” category at a recent ceremony in Toronto.

Please join us in extending our congratulations to the Carbonix team!

Carbonix is an Indigenous Canadian company manufacturing advanced nanomaterials from waste products. These are then used to make resource extraction operations more sustainable – by binding to both the “bad stuff” found in tailing ponds, as well as to the other byproducts that result from resource extraction.

Under Paul’s leadership, the firm is not only converting waste into valuable products but is also attempting to reduce GHG emissions at the same time.

“Paul was chosen after rigorous screening and research by Delta Management, with advice from internal researchers and external advisors, and was among Honourees selected from an initial pool of over 1,000 well-qualified nominees,” Gavin Pitchford, CEO of Delta Management Group, told us.
