AWARD-WINNING RAJCOMAR WINS BEST PICTURE IN THE CANON PERFECT PICTURE COMPETITION 2022
Multi-Award-winning photographer, graphic designer, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Durban University of Technology alumna, Karishma R. Rajcomar recently scooped the top prize for Best Picture and won the Canon Perfect Picture Competition 2022 for her image, ‘Stare in Agony’.
The Canon Perfect Picture Competition 2022 is a seven-part reality series where celebrities with a passion for photography compete against each other to show that they have what it takes to step away from the spotlight and move behind the camera! All they needed is a good eye in order to take the best picture and to use their technical and creative skills to show they can take the perfect shot.
CODING AND ROBOTICS TRAINING OFFERED TO 120 SCHOOL GIRLS FROM ETHEKWINI AREA
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) in collaboration with Lenovo Southern Africa has started offering a Coding and Robotics Training programme to 120 schoolgirls from 15 schools in the eThekwini area. The Robo Girl 2022 programme was launched at the DUT Ritson campus in Durban on Monday, 05 December 2022 and is set to end on Saturday, 10 December 2022.
The Department of Information Technology (IT) at DUT will train different teams on how to build and programme their own robots, which they will then showcase on Saturday morning, 10 December 2022 at the University.
PHD STUDENT AT DUT OBTAINS 2ND RUNNER UP AWARD AT BRICS POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH FORUM IN BRAZIL
A PhD in Visual and Performing Arts student in the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Durban University of Technology, Dr Robin Gengan recently obtained a 2nd Runner Up Award in the PhD category at the BRICS Postgraduate Research Forum held at the Campinas University in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
His presentation was titled: Innovative entrepreneurship through creative outputs for emerging filmmakers in South Africa: A conceptual framework.
“My presentation was on Entrepreneurial filmmaking within the enterprise development area.
COMMUNITY HEALTH STUDIES DEPARTMENT AT DUT ARE CONDUCTING AN OCCUPATIONAL NOISE MEASUREMENT AND EFFECTS TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Department of Community Health Studies at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is conducting an Occupational Noise Measurement and Effects Training Workshop, with 25 delegates from the University, Community Health Department and African Union delegates from Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique and South Africa.
The delegates are mostly Senior Occupational Hygienists with qualifications such as Environmental Health, Geology, Mining Engineering and Occupational Health Nursing. The duration of the course is five (5) days, which commenced from Monday the 5th December 2022 and ending on Friday the 9th December 2022.
DUT IEP DIRECTORATE BIDS FAREWELL TO FINAL YEAR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The International Education and Partnerships (IEP) hosted the 2022 International students’ farewell luncheon at the Little India Restaurant, Durban on Tuesday, 29 November 2022. The luncheon was held to celebrate and appreciate international students as they complete their studies at DUT and are about to embark on new endeavors in their lives.
The event kick started with an amazing performance by Chiko Mujeni, who’s also a DUT International Students and this year’s member of the executive committee for the International Students Organization (ISO).
