Dear Friend of Family Promise of Greater Washington County,
Your donation is critical to the work we do. Your support has been life-changing for thousands of people in our communities this year. We are working to provide a way out of homelessness for families with children through shelter programs, permanent housing placement, housing retention, intervention programs, and skills and job training that is leading to positive outcomes for children and families in crisis across the county.
With you by our side, we provide much-needed resources to children and families, like Eunice, in crisis in Washington County communities.
Eunice and her son Carlos came to Family Promise in March this year. Eunice was pregnant at the time and she and Carlos were residing in Beaverton when they lost their home due to a fire. They were forced to evacuate with what little belongings they could grab. They stayed at a hotel for three days before they were contacted by one of our case managers. Once in shelter, Eunice was able to qualify for rent assistance and started the housing navigation as part of their case management. Carlos was going to school while in shelter with us. After a few months, Eunice gave birth to a baby girl. Shortly after, Eunice and her children moved into their new apartment where they remain close to Carlos’ school. Eunice is now a stay-at-home mother taking care of her children while seeking bilingual education and employment. Case managers will work with the family to connect her to resources that will sustain their livelihood.
