We are excited about the new year ahead! Please review a few brief updates from the COEs below. We are finalizing the details for our upcoming webinar previewing our new website, and a separate newsletter will be shared with information on how to register.

Listening to Women & Pregnant & Postpartum People

This quarter, the MUSC COE is highlighting a novel telehealth program called Listening to Women and Pregnant and Postpartum People (LTWP) that has preliminarily demonstrated improved rates of detection and treatment attendance for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as substance use disorders as compared to usual care.

Listening to Women and Pregnant and Postpartum People (LTWP), is a technology-facilitated intervention that has been successful in overcoming traditional barriers to screening for PMADs, PSUDs, and IPV during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

MUSC Women’s Health, Listening to Women program granted $7 million from Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

The Medical University of South Carolina’s Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health Division, led by Principal Investigator Constance Guille, M.D., MUSC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, has been approved for a $7 million research funding award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study a new text/phone-based screening and referral program, called Listening to Women and Pregnant and Postpartum People (LTWP).

Caregiver University (CGU) is a FREE, multiple-session training program for family caregivers focused on a variety of topics surrounding care delivery and support for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Applicants are required to complete and submit a program application.

At the end of this program, participants will be better equipped with tools they need for the caregiving journey such as:

  • Enhanced dementia knowledge
  • Increased coping strategies
  • Improved ability to deliver quality care
  • Deepened awareness of support resources
