As I write this on the shortest day of the year, the holidays are upon most of us and it's nearly time to take a well-earned break. However, let’s not forget the people who keep our essential services going over this period and let them know how much we appreciate their efforts.
I want to say thank you to members of the public across East Sussex for sharing your experiences of health and care services with us over the past year. This feedback and insight has helped us to make the case for improvements in services, even if services are still facing challenges to meet demand.
I also want to thank our partners and our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and Board members who have all contributed so much to our work over the past year. Two examples of what we have achieved are ensuring that proper care and support is made available to homeless people formerly living in inappropriate accommodation in Newhaven and our contribution towards improving access to GPs and NHS dentists.
The ambulance industrial action will be a cause of concern for all of us worried about what might happen if we need to call upon this service, however much we understand the frustration of ambulance workers facing below inflation pay rises and staff shortages. The NHS are doing all they can to make sure a service is still available but this relies upon the public only using the service when needed
Wishing you and your loved ones the best for 2023.
