Winter Break Programming
MacBain Community Centre

Join us at the MacBain Community Centre over Winter Break for a variety of fun drop-in programs, including the following Christmas break programming:

Drive-In Movie: December 28

  • What: Participants will build and decorate a car out of supplied materials. Then, we'll hop in our cars, hand out some snacks and start our feature film: Disney/Pixar's Cars
  • Ages: 4 to 10
  • Price: $20

Board Game Café: December 29
  • What: Board Game Café. On top of a great variety of board games, there will be giant games like bowling, Jenga, and checkers from the Niagara Falls Public Library collection.
  • Includes: Light refreshments, including hot chocolate, fruit, and cookies.
  • Price: $5.00

Almost New Year's Eve Party: December 30

  • What: Join us at the MacBain Community Centre for an Almost New Year's Eve Party! We'll have several craft options related to New Year's, including DIY paper fireworks, noise makers, and party hats!
  • Includes: Snacks like fruit and cookies available too!
  • Ages: 3 to10
  • Price: $10

12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety
Tips for a fire-safe holiday

Niagara Falls Fire Chief, Jo Zambito, has wished for a fire-free holiday season and needs your help to make it come true.

Introducing the 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety, twelve daily safety reminders you can review with your family, beginning on Monday, December 12:

  • Day 1: Use the proper lights when decorating and check for worn or damaged cords
  • Day 2: Keep decorations away from candles
  • Day 3: Install and test smoke alarms
  • Day 4: Install and test carbon monoxide alarms
  • Day 5: Water fresh trees daily
  • Day 6: Check extension cords for damage and use them properly
  • Day 7: Use candles with care 
  • Day 8: Prepare and practice your escape plan with everyone in your home
  • Day 9: Stay in the kitchen when cooking on the stovetop
  • Day 10: Keep heating sources away from anything that can burn
  • Day 11: If you smoke, smoke outside
  • Day 12: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe charging of lithium batteries.

Sparkle Awards 2022
Deck the Falls

Let your holiday spirit sparkle! The City of Niagara Falls & Downtown BIA are hosting the Sparkle Awards, an initiative to highlight local properties with spectacular holiday lighting displays.

To participate, tour the city with the Deck the Falls Map and nominate a dazzling property to win the Community Choice Award by December 19.

Transit Services: Changes to Route 102
Effective Monday, January 2, 2023

Effective Monday, January 2, 2023, we will be re-numbering the portion of Route 102, which travels from Main and Ferry HUB to Bus Terminal via the Morrison/Dorchester HUB to Route 115.

Since we re-introduced the peak service, passengers have found the change confusing. To clarify the changes, we will re-number this portion of ROUTE 102 to ROUTE 115.

New Municipal Parking Facility
Effective January 1, 2023

The City of Niagara Falls will be opening Municipal Parking Lot #16. Access to the neighbouring properties will be restricted.

Holiday Giving Drive 
Help decorate The Soup Kitchen tree with socks and mittens, and fill the Project SHARE of Niagara Falls bins with gifts and food. Donations will be accepted at the MacBain Community Centre (7150 Montrose Road) until Monday, December 19!
Kids Holiday Crafts
If you’re looking for something seasonal to do with the kids this December, come down to the Niagara Falls History Museum for a free evening of winter crafts for kids on December 15th! Join us from 5pm to 9pm for a night of festive fun.
