Invest in news by immigrant journalists and journalists of color
As we near the end of 2022, we’re taking time to reflect on the stories that had the biggest impact this year. We’re especially proud of the podcast episodethat came out of an audio and digital storytelling workshop we held in the spring Designed specifically for journalists serving Spanish-speaking and bilingual audiences, the workshop was designed to help address the historic and persistent lack of professional development opportunities for bilingual journalists in the U.S.
12 journalists from across the U.S. and Latin America participated in the workshop, receiving hands-on experience producing an audio story, perfecting story pitches, and presenting their ideas to a pitch panel. Four stories from that workshop were released in an episode of our podcast A Better Life?. The stories focus on a casino worker in New Hampshire, a chef in Mexico, a radio host in Kansas, and high school students in Arizona. These four audio vignettes were produced in a mixture of English and Spanish, a reflection of how the two languages live side-by-side in communities—and many households—across the U.S.
This is just one example of the kind of reporting you’ve come to expect from Feet in 2 Worlds. It’s reporting that brings underrepresented voices forward and strengthens our Democracy. Our reporting would not be possible without the support of readers and listeners like you.
All donations to our year-end campaign will be quadrupled, dollar for dollar, until December 31st! With these matches, a donation of $15 becomes $60, $50 becomes $200. For a small but mighty nonprofit like us, this is a big deal and will help sustain our work through 2023 and beyond.
P.S Please help us spread the word! Forward this email to friends and colleagues who you think would be interested in helping support our work.
