Unanimous approval for easier access to e-bikes
Wellingtonians and visitors to the city looking for low-carbon ways to get around will be able to hire e-bikes as easily as e-scooters this summer. Existing e-scooter providers Flamingo and Beam will each be able to offer up to 150 e-bikes on Wellington streets from early in the new year. Read more on Our Wellington.
Christmas ho-ho-holiday hours in the capital
The Council elves are having a bit of a holly-day after a year of sleighing it, so there’ll be some changes to our normal schedules this Christmas. Most of our facilities have modified hours over this time, but everyone’s favourite Council sites, services and facilities holiday hours can be found on our website. Meri kirihimete!
More EV chargers popping up around Pōneke
New electric vehicle (EV) chargers are being installed around Pōneke as part of Council’s Charged-up Capital programme. Over the next few months, 11 new chargers will be installed at convenient Council sites around the city. Installed by Meridian, these public chargers mean more EVs can be more easily charged by drivers who don’t have access to private residential chargers. Read more on Our Wellington.
Ways to avoid food waste this Christmas
Preparing and sharing kai is an enormous part of Christmas. We put so much work into creating beautiful meals, so it doesn’t seem right that we waste significantly more food over the festive season. Food waste already makes up one third of Wellingtonian’s waste, and over the holidays this increases by 40 percent. Check out some tips on how to avoid food waste from our waste minimisation team on Our Wellington.
