Monday and Wednesdays Greenwich Boxing in person classes have been canceled until further notice.
As we approach the holidays we encourage each of you to remember what Dr. Duffy told us about the importance of self care. Self-care is defined as any practice that relieves stress and encourages a healthy mind and body.

It is so easy to get caught up and busy with the holidays that we overlook taking care of ourselves.

There's a lot of research that show that exercise, yoga, and mindfulness are supportive of mental and physical health.

if you aren't already participating in our classes consider trying one of our Parkinson's Body and Mind classes either in person or virtually for yourself care.

Happy Holidays

Shaker's Anonymous Meeting
Eric Remole, a long-time member of Shaker's Anonymous is going to be giving a presentation about a project called "Eric's Journey" that a friend and photographer, Morten Kristensen and Eric have been working on for almost five years. The project came about because Morten became interested in his ongoing war with Parkinson's and wanted to see if he could capture the essence of his journey with the goal of somehow sharing it with others in order to raise Parkinson's awareness.

Eric was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease in 2006.
There will be no meeting on
Tuesday December 27th.

8 Mindfulness Tips During the Holidays
Bring some peace and calm to your holidays.

Mindfulness is a way to be open and aware of what is happening in the moment—being present both internally and externally. Mindfulness has been shown to improve relationship satisfaction, reduce stress in relationships, and increase empathy. Mindful practices can also help reduce internal stress and anxiety. Parkinson's School is a resource for patients, their family members, and the community that serves them. Clinic visits are too few and far between and patients have questions that are going unanswered.

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Mischley has treated over 4000 patients with Parkinsonism and these courses represent the most frequently asked questions. There are 24 pre-recorded classes and corresponding discussions. You may watch the classes at your own pace and in any order. You will continue to have unlimited access to the videos and may watch them as often as you'd like. Read more...

We need volunteers to help with PBM social media, nonprofit accounting and recruiting people with PD to our PBM program at the Bridgeport YMCA. if interested, please contact elainegrant@parkinsonsbodyandmind.org
Across all PD research, 85 percent of trials face delays and 30 percent never get started because of the chronic shortage of volunteers. This means people with Parkinson’s wait longer for better solutions to manage the disease.
