A Successful Member's Exhibition and Store

Small but Mighty is officially over, but was very successful! 24 artworks were purchased this exhibition and are on their way home for the holidays. We also had our member's store, which was a hit during the St. Anne's Hill Dickens Holiday Tour this year. 1,000 people entered the gallery the past 3 days and many for the first time!

This Coming Friday

The DSA is excited to present our member Jerome Stueart's pop-up show, The Further (Queer) Adventures of Yukon Cornelius. Jerome has reimagined the boisterous, red-bearded prospector from the 1964 Christmas special, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” as a gay man whose whole life is helping monsters adapt to the world of people around them. Wild: A Photographic Exhibition
A one day event featuring the captivating images of four adventure, wildlife, and landscape photographers. Hosted by Mike Schena of YouTube's "A Cabin and 50 Acres".

Tom Croce, Eleanor Moseman, Ryan Taylor, and Eric Wright will have a variety of images and products available to purchase.

Rosewood Gallery 

Works on Paper is a juried exhibition for artists living within a 40-mile radius of Dayton, Ohio (this excludes Columbus and Cincinnati), working in or on paper. This includes, but is not limited to photos, prints, painting or drawings on paper, cast paper, paper mache, cardboard, etc.

2023 JUROR
 

This year’s exhibition is juried by Michael Roediger the Director & CEO of the Dayton Art Institute. He is member of the prestigious Association of Art Museum Directors. In 2021, he led the establishing of the museum’s first Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) standing committee.
 

Prior experience includes Victoria Theatre Association; Junior Achievement of Dayton; Children’s Friend and Service, the country’s oldest not-for-profit in Providence, RI; and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
 

Michael holds a Master of Science degree in Leadership Development from Wright State University, a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Northern University with concentrations in Communications, Public Relations and Theatre, a Certified Fund Raising Executive credential and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate from the University of South Florida MUMA College of Business.
 

He has a vast history of volunteer service including as a new member of the Kettering Art in Public Places Committee.
 

Michael resides in Kettering and is the proud father of his son, Richard, who is Sophomore at The Ohio State University in the Honors Program. He volunteers for Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue and recently adopted Boston Terrier Chace into their family.

You must agree to Group Liability Agreement to participate in a Rosewood Gallery group exhibition. Rosewood Gallery Group Exhibition Agreement and Virtual Exhibition Agreement
 

ELIGIBILITY
 

· Entries must be original works in any media on or of paper, completed within the last four years
· Artwork must not to exceed 40 inches in width (image, not frame)
· Artwork must be created within the last four years

About Manifest Gallery: Manifest is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit founded on Woodburn Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004 by professors and students from area universities seeking to make a positive community impact. The organization seeks to engage students, professionals, and the public from around the world through accessible world-class exhibits, studio programs, and publications centered on the broader visual arts.

Artist Grant
 

Founded in 2017, Artist Grant is a new venture that aims to support and fund artists. To that end, this charitable organization funds the efforts of artists to continue their important work and contributions to society, providing a modest competitive grant of $500 to one artist every quarter.

Deadline: There are four grant cycles per year – January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. The deadline for the current grant cycle is January 15, 2023. If you are interested in receiving deadline reminder notifications, please subscribe to their mailing list.

Fee: $25

Award: $500 each grant cycle

Who: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, stills of video/film, sculpture (of any type of material), ceramics, mixed/multiple media, installation, and other new or alternative media.

Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant
 

Established as part of Lee Krasner’s legacy, the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant was set up to support and strengthen the creative lives of artists. A competitive grant for artists with extensive exhibition records, this grant has a long list of impressive alumni. Since its start in 1985, the foundation has granted over 65 million dollars in award money to artists in over 77 countries.

Deadline: Ongoing

Award: Awards range from $5,000 to $30,000, depending on need and circumstance

Who: Mid-career professional artists with demonstrable financial need.  Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces; Painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmaking. Commercial artists, video artists, performance artists, filmmakers, crafts-makers, and computer artists are not eligible. Students not eligible. Requirements for consideration are the application form, a cover letter, a current resume including an exhibition record, and ten digital images of current work with a corresponding identification list.

Language of Art is DAI’s book club series for adults, young adults, and lifelong learners. An Educator or Curator selects a reading and guides an hour-long discussion that connects the book’s themes to collection artworks or to exhibitions. This program explores a diversity of literary genres and is open to readers of all interests, from book-lovers to newcomers.
