Holiday Boat Parade

The food trucks and concerts continue behind the Village Park gymnasium and have moved to select Saturday nights.

The Lakeside Market will be held on Friday nights from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the Lake Wellington waterfront.

The National Youth Championship Football Tournament will be held on December 6th to 8th and 13th to 15th at Village Park on fields 6-12.

On December 13th, the Community Center will host the Senior Holiday Party at 11:30 am.

Due to supply chain issues, the filter installation and maintenance at the Aquatics Complex have been delayed. The Aquatics Complex will now be closed from December 20th through January 4th. The Aquatics Complex will resume its normal operating hours on January 5th.  

On January 5th, the Food Truck series will re-start on the Promenade from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with live entertainment. This event will take place weekly, every Thursday until Phase II of the Town Center is complete.

On January 14th, a Casino Night will be held at the Community Center in the Grande Ballroom and on the Promenade. Tickets are on sale now for ages 21 and up only. The price is $40 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres, two drink tickets (cash bar available), casino games, and live entertainment by Johnny T.  Participants can trade winnings for raffle tickets and the chance to win prizes.

The Father-Daughter Dance will be held at Village Park on January 28th at Village Park from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. This year’s them will be Boogie in the Bayou.

The holiday hours for December 24th, 25th, and 31st for the parks are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The gym will be closed on those dates. The holiday hours for January 1st and 2nd for parks are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm except for Greenview Shores Park which is 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. The gym will be closed on those dates. The facility holiday hours are as follows:

Planning/Programs/Events:

Tutoring at Boys and Girls Club:  Tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club continued this week on Monday, December 5th.  Staff selected 10 students per group and selects two total groups per day. About 20 students were provided homework assistance/tutoring this week. This program did not operate the remainder of the week.  
 
Wellington Elementary Tutoring Program: This program occurred only on Monday, December 5th.  We provide assistance via transportation for 26 students from Wellington Elementary to the Boys and Girls Club. Students will participate in one of two tutoring groups; 3:30 – 4:30pm or 4:30 – 5:30pm. The certified teachers and staff will assist the students with their math and reading needs. The program did not function the remainder of the week due to preparation for the Toy Drive event.  
 
All-American City Project: This week our staff began collaborating with Parks & Rec to develop Wellington's application for this national award.  The All-American City award recognizes communities that are working to improve the overall health and well-being of youth through active community-driven events/programs.  
 
Tom Atkins Civics 101:  On Tuesday, December 6th, this program was held in Council Chambers to conclude the Palm Beach Central's Mock Youth Council.  The leads of each department provided a presentation for the mock council and were provided their overall thoughts on the project and whether to approve or deny the project based on the presentation.  
 
Toy Drive Collection: Throughout this week our staff collected and purchased toys for the upcoming event on December 15th.  Currently there are over 400 people registered for the event.  
 
Mood Media:  Staff has added our new video content to the Community Service Building’s TV.
 
Lakeside Market:  On Friday December 9th, staff assisted the WCC with this event due their staff being pulled to assist with Winterfest.
 
Crossover Program: On Saturday, December 10th, this program took place at the Wellington Boys and Girls Club. This program encourages an active lifestyle for teens and adults to come play basketball on Saturdays. The program expects to have 25 players participate.

Palms West Hospital Santa Visit:  On Wednesday, December 14th from 9am to 11am, the Village Council, Community Policing Deputies and Santa will visit the children's ward at Palms West Hospital.  This yearly tradition brings donated toys and hopes to bring cheer to those children being treated at the hospital during the holiday season.  
 
The Annual Hometown Holiday Toy Drive:  This event will kick off on Thursday, November 17th and run through Tuesday, December 13th.  To register for the event, an Eventbrite link will be sent to Wellington families who have been identified by our schools as requiring additional support this holiday season.
 
Toys will be sorted on Wednesday, December 14th at St. Peters Church (12200 Forest Hill Blvd) from 3:00pm-6:00pm.  The Toy Distribution will be held at St. Peter’s Church on Thursday, December 15th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Wellington Holiday 5k Run/Walk:  The 10th Annual Wellington Jingle Bell 5k returns this year to Village Park on Sunday, December 18th, 2022 at 7:00am.  Organized by Pure Adrenaline Sports, Inc., this event will feature a holiday theme with each participant receiving bells to put on their shoes for the run.  Registration is open now and is $30.00 for individuals before November 14th, $35.00 until December 17th, and $40.00 on the day of the race.  Awards will be given in each age group as well as for best dressed: Santa, Mrs. Claus, Elves, and best decorated stroller.  Participants are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Wellington Toy Drive. 

Lighting of Large Menorah:  Temple Beth Torah’s Rabbi Rosenkranz will lead the Hanukah blessings for the first night of the holiday, on December 18th  at 5:30pm at the large Menorah located behind the Patriot Memorial on Forest Hill Blvd.  

Kwanzaa Celebration with the Lakeside Market:  On December 30th from 7:00pm-7:30pm, the Afrique Ngozi Dance and Drum group will perform in honor of Kwanzaa.  Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26th- January 1st and is a time of learning, family and celebration.  During the week of Kwanzaa, families and communities come together to share a feast, to honor ancestors and affirm bonds between them.  This event is a celebration of African American culture.  This event will be in combination with the Lakeside Market which will be held form 5pm-9pm.

Casino Night:  On Saturday, January 14th, Wellington will host a "Casino Night" at the Community Center and on the Promenade from 6pm to 9pm.  The Atlantic-City themed event will feature appetizers and two (2) free drinks with the price of a $40.00 ticket (a cash bar will also be available).  Johnny T, The Man of Many Voices, will entertain the crowd throughout the event.  Also included in the cost of the ticket is free casino play that will give attendees a chance to try black jack, roulette, craps, Texas hold-em poker and slot machines.  Winners will earn chips that can be turned into "Wellington funny money" that can be traded for raffle tickets and prizes.  

Chinese New Year Celebration with the Lakeside Market:  Wellington will once again celebrate the Chinese New Year on Friday, January 27th from 5pm to 9pm in combination with the Lakeside Market.  The Chinese Lion Dance will be performed from 7pm to 7:15pm on the back patio of the Community Center and will feature dancers in traditional "lion" attire as well as martial arts demonstrations.  

Father Daughter Dance:  The Annual Father Daughter Dance will return on Saturday, January 28th from 6pm to 9pm at Village Park (doors open at 5:30pm).  This dance, for children ages 5 to 14, will feature dinner, the crowd-favorite chocolate fountain, a photo booth and a DJ leading games and dancing.  This year's theme is the Princess and the Frog and will have a special appearance from Princess Tiana and Elsa during the dinner and dessert portion of the event.  A total of 300 tickets were sold for this now sold out event.  
Wellington Landings Middle School - Issues During Drop Off/Pick Up:  District 8 Deputies provided assistance with enforcement of "No Parking" in the swales.

Speed Trailer:  Deployed near Equestrian Way and Appaloosa Trail to deter speeding in the area near the horse trail.
 
Business Walk & Talks:  Last week staff visited the Flanigan’s/Office Depot Plaza on SR7.  During this Walk & Talk, staff and PBSO provided information on the Wellington App, magnets with Village Department contact phone numbers (including PBSO non-emergency).  Below is feedback received from some of the businesses:
  • LA Fitness Plaza: No issues reported, except LA fitness mentioned underage kids trying to access the facility through the back door. 
  • Office Depot: The operations manager mentioned that they will be filing a sexual harassment complaint to PBSO. She stated that an old man comes into the store and stalks a younger female employee.  These incidents were brought to the attention of management by the employee’s father.    
  • Sola Salon Studios:  A hair stylist shared that there is a disheveled man who occasionally smokes behind the Petrover Orthodontist.  
  • New Radiance Cosmetic Center: The employee shared information regarding a homeless man who sleeps on the bench outside of the Devine Bistro. She mentioned that they have seen him do some illegal drug activity.
Community Policing Deputies assisted families in the CP sites including the 12th Fairway, Morning Glory, and Yarmouth Court.  CP units identified and enrolled kids for the Shop with a Cop events.  Deputies also assisted Code Enforcement regarding units at Periwinkle with severely overgrown lawns and with a tenant at Santa Clara Trail. 

Incidents Involving Golf Carts – Two (2) incidents reported:  
  • 12/8/22 8:46am, 3120 Fairlane Farms Road – Civil dispute over the rental of a lot to store golf carts.  Complainant claimed golf carts were left in the swale.  Cleared; no police action.
  • 12/9/22, 8:09pm – Big Cone Court – Multiple juveniles entered complainant’s backyard and fled on black golf cart.
Residential Burglary – Two (2) incidents reported: 
  • 12/5/22 – 12/6/22, 7:30pm – 7am, Olympia – Suspect took victim’s bicycle. 
  • 12/8/22, 3pm, Village Walk – Witness photographed two or three juvenile suspects enter neighbors open garage and steal several beer bottles from victim’s refrigerator.
Stolen Vehicles – Three (3) incidents reported: 
  • 12/4/22 - 12/5/22 5:00pm - 7:15am, Estates at Wellington Green -  Suspect(s) used a blunt object on the drivers side window to gain access and steal the victim's white Dodge Challenger.
  • 12/5/22 - 12/6/22 8:30pm - 6:30am, Waterway Cove - Suspect(s) stole the victim's white Nissan Altima.  Vide surveillance was available.  Vehicle recovered in District 15 and subject arrested.
  • 12/5/22 8:40pm, Estates at Wellington Green - Suspect stole a victim's blue Kia Forte from the victim's driveway.  Victim has possession of both sets of keys to vehicle and the vehicle was locked.  Under investigation.
Vehicle Burglary – Two (3) incidents reported: 
  • 12/5/22 - 12/6/22, 6:30pm - 8am, Shaker Wood - Suspect(s) entered the victim's locked truck and stole three (3) pairs of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses.  Investigation is ongoing.
  • 11/28/22 - 12/9/22, 6:00pm - 9:30am, Solara - Unknown suspect(s) stole a handgun from the victim's vehicle.  The victim was unsure of the exact date of the theft.  No surveillance footage found.
Detective Bureau is investigating multiple cases including two new ones from last week:
  • Burglary/Conveyance, Stirrup Lane - Victim was in the master bedroom watching television when she heard a sound in the main area of the home.  Upon inspection she noticed a light movement in her dining room and quickly realized it was a flashlight beam and that someone was in her home.  The victim yelled for her husband who was asleep to call 911 which resulted in the suspect running out of the living area of the home and through the garage door.  The victim ran out the front door and noticed the suspect getting into the passenger side of a vehicle which was parked in the neighbors driveway.  The suspect went towards Paddock Drive and fled the area.  Investigation is ongoing.
  • Mail Theft/Grand Theft/Fraud - The victim reported that a check she had placed in the US Mail had been intercepted, altered and cashed for $5,400.  The check is believed to have been stolen by an organized group of suspects who have access to USPS arrow keys and are using them to open cluster mailboxes.  Investigation is ongoing.
Planning & Zoning

14785 Haymarket Court: The property owner was issued a reasonable accommodation for 2 horses and 1 donkey. Based upon research, it has been determined the property owner is operating an animal rescue from the residence which is not a permitted use within Paddock Park and outside of the EPA/EOZD. Additional research and verification is being conducted prior to any actions.
 
Arcadia Cell Marketing Proposal: The notification for a request for proposals based upon the unsolicited proposal from Arcadia expires on 12/14 at 5pm. To date, no other proposals have been submitted.
 
Strategic Planning
 
Sports Tourism:  A draft memorandum of agreement has been completed and is under review. Once the review is completed, a copy will be provided to the Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the United States Polo Association for their review.
 
Affordable Housing Advisory Committee: The first meeting of the AHAC occurred on December 6th. Six of the eight members attended. Mr. Hind resigned prior to the meeting, do to work related issue. Mr. Kesnel Theus, Jr. was elected Chair, while Mr. Elliot Johnson was elected Vice Chair. The committee duties were reviewed, the outline of the annual report was provided, and each member expressed their desire to serve. The next meeting will be in May 2023.

Code Compliance
 
December Special Magistrate Hearing:  There were 30 code compliance actions scheduled for the December 8, 2022 Special Magistrate Hearing.  This meeting occurred a week earlier than the typical schedule due to the holiday season.
 
Doubletree Cir Light Complaint UPDATE:  Code Compliance received a homeowner complaint concerning light spillover and glare from a neighboring garage light.  An initial inspection found a minimum amount of light spill over.  The complainant requested a follow up inspection and light meter survey which has been scheduled with both homeowners next week.   Wellington Land Development Regulation Section 7.6.1 outlines lighting must be limited to the originating property to the greatest extend possible.  LDR 7.6.1 further outlines light overspill onto adjacent properties cannot exceed three-tenths (0.3) of one (1) foot-candle.  Code Staff frequently works closely with property owners to limit light glare and spillover by suggesting redirection of lighting, installing shielding, or lowering light levels. 
 
Code staff went out and conducted multiple light meter surveys at different locations of the property with both neighbors present.  The results show no violation at this time. Both neighbors were informed of the results.

OPERATIONS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Current meter No Reads are approximately 1,664.  Beginning this week, the number is expected to begin trending down again as completed field replacements start to show up in the weekly numbers. 
  • Water Plant flows have begun their seasonal uptick in demand.       
  • WTP demands are slightly below where they were this time last year

  • There are no current regulatory exceedances or non-compliance issues.  Recent submissions in the last week include:  
    • WTP Monthly Bacteriological Compliance for Distribution & Wellfield Operating Report (PBCHD)
    • WTP Underground Injection Control (FDEP) NOTE* Subcontract Lab reported TOC results for Upper and Lower were elevated.  This is unexpected and inconsistent with historical results and will be checked again beginning in January.  In any case, no exceedances were detected.

NEW DESIGN, STUDIES, AND REPORTS
  • Draft WRF reclaimed disinfection study reviewed last week by Village staff. Hazen and Sawyer to prepare final memorandum.
  • Raw water main connection engineering design proposal approved
  • 80% plans and specifications for Chemical Improvements – Sodium Hypochlorite design received from Kimley-Horn.
  • Booster Station pumping and operational evaluation scheduled for next week.
  • Hazen Sawyer reviewing expediting specifications for RAS/WAS pumps for Clarifier 1 due to operational issues the Village is having.

CIP PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
  • The following projects are in active state of construction. Major weekly milestones are as follows:
    • Wharton Smith - WTP R & R Project – Structural canopy construction completed. Final finishing work is almost complete in the employee spaces, and contractor is trying to complete all work by the end of year. Contractor is continuing painting in the high service pump rooms this week.   
    • Booster Station and HSP Improvements Phase 1—Contractor working on tank coatings and building coatings at Booster 1.      
    • Train 8 Expansion—Contractor is working on installation of Train 8 raw water feed piping.
    • Rambling Road Raw Water Main/Drainage conflict—Shop drawings under review
    • Florida Design Contractors - HPP8 and Post Treatment Improvement Project –This project is substantially complete. The contractor has minor punch list items remaining and is waiting on materials.
    • Hinterland - Lift Station Phase II Rehab - This project is substantially complete. All project items are complete except correction of wetwell hatch deficiencies.
    • Well Rehab Phase 4—Well 9 acidization complete. Working on brushing, swabbing and development. Contractor is expending to be complete with development at the end of January.   

Construction Projects

Town Center:
Phase 2 of the project continues.  The Amphitheater and Scott’s Place remain closed to the public for the duration of the project.  The target dates for substantial and final completion have been moved back to April 24, 2023 and May 23, 2023 respectively.  The holiday lay down area adjacent to Forest Hill is completed.    

Golf Cart Pathway Expansion (Pierson Road, between Birkdale and Stribling):
This project started on November 14th.  The project is ongoing and is approximately 80% complete.  We expect this project to be completed by December 23rd.  Once completed, the project will include an 8 foot wide pathway section that is capable of hosting golf cart traffic and will enable golf cart users to access Village Park.             

Greenview Shores Park Safety Netting:
The contractor was onsite as of December 5th to scope the project and locate the pole locations.  We are currently waiting for the contractor to mobilize.   Once completed, the project will provide safety netting along between the softball fields and tennis courts.  

Acme Culvert 130 Refurbishment: 
This project has been postponed until May 1, 2023 at the request of the Palm Beach Polo POA.    

Wellington Trace & Primrose Lane Traffic Calming: 
This project includes the addition of a Mini Round-a-bout at the intersection of Primrose Lane and Wellington Trace.  Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2023. 

Design Projects

Big Blue Trace Landscaping and Traffic Calming (South Shore Blvd. to Paddock):

This project includes the installation of traffic calming features, landscaping, and irrigation along Big Blue Trace between South Shore Boulevard and Paddock Drive.  Design services have been procured with Kimley Horn to complete the landscaping and irrigation construction documents.  We anticipate the design work to be completed by March 2023.  
Status:  Design phase. 

Olympia Park Tennis/Basketball Refurbishment and Pickleball Addition Project:
This project includes resurfacing of the existing tennis and basketball courts.  The project will also convert a portion of the existing tennis courts into pickle ball courts.  We are currently working with Burkhardt Construction to obtain a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction services) for this project.  
Status: Procurement Phase.

Public Works Storage Building: 
This project will facilitate the storage needs for the Public Works Department, with the anticipated demolition of the Old Boys and Girls Club at the South Shore Community Park.  The proposed building will be a 10,000sf pre-fabricated structure.  The Engineering department is currently working on a performance specification and site plan for the building at the Public Works Facility.  The Engineering Department has completed 90% design plans for this effort to date.
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Park Restrooms: 
This project consists of a new restroom building at the Greenbriar Park Facility.  The current facility has reached its useful life and is in disrepair.  The current facility is also on septic drainfield facilities.  This project will also include permanent sanitary sewer facilities, which the current facility does not have.  The Engineering Department has completed 60% design plans for this effort to date.
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Park Disc Golf Study: 
This project consists of a nine-hole disc (Frisbee) golf facility to be incorporated into Greenbriar Park.  The engineering department will be working directly with Jake Hampu, Founder of the Unified Dream Organization to prepare a conceptual disc golf course layout within the open field area of Greenbriar Park. 
Status:  Conceptual Design Phase/On Hold. 

PBSO Existing Building Assessment: 
This project consists of the inspection of the current PBSO substation at 14000 Greenbriar Boulevard.  The engineering department is preparing a building hardening recommendation and report for this building.  The final report is being reviewed by the Village Engineer.  
Status:  Final Report In Review, Due by 12/31/22.   

ACME Stormwater Modeling: 
Staff is working in coordination with Mock Roos to develop an updated stormwater model, utilizing the latest version of the ICPR (Inter-Connected Pond Routing) software.

ACME Big Blue Preserve Pump Station: 
This project consists of the refurbishment of the pump station for the Big Blue Cypress Preserve.  Engineering is coordinating with public works to move the existing pump station into ACME right of way.  The pump station currently lies within an easement, outside of the ACME right of way.  The project cost is approximately $145,000 and is scheduled to appear before Council in January for approval.

C-2 Multi-Purpose Pathway: 
This project consist of the construction of a 10ft wide pathway along the C-2 Canal, between Greenview Shores Boulevard and Bent Creek Road.  Engineering has received the survey for this project and will commence the design in FY2023.

C-8 Multi-Purpose Pathway (North of Stribling): 
This project consists of the construction of a 10ft wide pathway along the C-8 Canal, between Stribling Way and Forest Hill Boulevard.  Engineering has received the survey for this project  and will commence the design in FY2023.  
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenview Shores Bike Lanes:
This project includes the addition of traffic calming features and bicycle lanes along Greenview Shores Boulevard between Binks Forest Drive and Wellington Trace.  Design services are being negotiated with Kimley Horn.
Status:  Design phase. 

Greenbriar Boulevard Bike Lanes:
This project includes the addition of traffic calming features and bicycle lanes along Greenbriar Blvd. between Aero Club Drive and Greenview Shores Boulevard.  Design services are being negotiated with Kimley Horn.
Status:  Design phase. 

Wellington Trace/Big Blue Trace: 
This project includes the addition of permissive only left turn lane arrows along the Wellington Trace approaches to Big Blue Trace (N/S).  This project also includes the extension of the southbound left turn lane to accommodate the additional vehicle storage needed for the protected turn movement.  Engineering is currently working with PBC Traffic to obtain quotes for the placement of permissive only signals at the intersection.  Engineering has also prepared a design for the expansion of the existing westbound left turn lane to accommodate the additional queuing that is projected due to the permissive only turn lanes.  This portion of the project will be completed with annual contractors.
Status:  Procurement phase. 

Appaloosa Bridle Trail: 
This project consists of drainage improvements for the public Bridle Trail between Appaloosa Trail and Greenbriar Boulevard within the Saddle Trail South Subdivision.  Engineering is currently obtaining proposals from our annual contractors.    
Status:  Bid Phase. 

Welcome Sign / Southern Blvd.: 
This project consists of adding a “Welcome to Wellington” sign on the NW corner of the Municipal Boundary, which is generally at the Flying Cow/Southern Boulevard intersection.  An AT was transmitted on 08/23/2022 regarding the specifics for this project.   Engineering is currently working through permitting the sign with FDOT.

Section 24 Boardwalk Refurbishment: 
Engineering is completing design plans for the refurbishment of the boardwalks within Section 24.  These plans will be utilized to bid the project in accordance with the federal grant requirements.

ACME R&R C-9 Corridor (FPL Easement) Retention Expansion: 
This project consists of excavating and creating large retention areas beneath the FPL powerline easements along the C-9 canal corridor.  The intent of the project is to create additional surficial stormwater storage and reduce the overall flood stage within the ACME Improvement District.

Traffic Studies/Issues:

Traffic Calming/Vision Zero: 
Engineering is coordinating the implementation of Vision Zero Resolution 2022-15 and the Complete Streets Resolution 2022-16.  The Village has applied for a "Safe Streets for All" (SS4A) grant for funding to prepare a Village-wide traffic calming study.  Once this study has been completed we will begin to apply for grant funds for specific traffic calming projects.

Meadow Wood Traffic Study:   
Engineering is currently completing a speed study for the Meadow Wood HOA.  We expect the report to be completed by mid-December.

Wellington Trace / Birkdale School Zone Study:  
A school zone study was conducted at the intersection of Wellington Trace and Birkdale.  It was determined that a school zone is warranted.  This will be added to the FY2024 project list.

Private Utilities
The Engineering Department continues to monitor construction and assist residents with damage claims as needed.  Below is a summary of damage claims to date.

Environmental Services, Neighborhood Parks & Equestrian Trails
  • Continue to service residents with scheduled mosquito spraying and bee removal requests.
  • Completed trail maintenance (dragged and box-bladed) along the Appaloosa Trail and Blue Trail.
  • Installed equestrian signage along the intersections of 50th Street and 120th Avenue, and 50th Street and 130th Avenue.
  • Installed asphalt millings at various areas along the Bridle Trail and Pierson Road.
  • Removed weeds from the volleyball courts at Greenbriar Park.
 Landscape Maintenance & Nuisance Abatement
  • Removed seed pods from palm trees, Village wide.
  • Picked up palm debris, Village wide.
  • Replaced damaged Cocoplum shrub in the Little Ranches neighborhood.
  • Continue to update tree inventory.
  • Continue preventative irrigation maintenance, Village wide.
  • Completed irrigation maintenance along Forest Hill Boulevard and at Village Hall.
 Building Maintenance
  • Replaced various lighting fixtures at Chatsworth Village (entry wall), Greenview Shores Park, Lake Wellington Professional Centre, and Village Park.
  • Inspected all holiday lights in preparation for the Holiday Cultural Celebration at Town Center Promenade.
  • Completed various building maintenance repairs at PBSO Substation, Village Hall, and Wellington Community Center.
  • Repaired damaged entry wall along Margate Place.
  • Repainted and installed new lettering on the entry wall at PBSO Substation.
  • Installed new artwork at the Wellington Community Center.
  • Pressure cleaned various areas at the Forest Hill Boat Ramp and Town Center Promenade.
  • Lowered all flags to half-staff for the following days:
    • On Tuesday, December 6 (from sunrise to sunset) in honor of Naval Air Station Pensacola Remembrance Day.
    • On Wednesday, December 7, in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
 Roads & Roadside Refuse
  • Continue backfilling sidewalk sections along Westhampton Circle.
  • Completed asphalt repairs along Paddock Drive.
  • Set up Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) along Forest Hill Boulevard in preparation for the removal/replacing of damaged sidewalk sections.
  • Grinded sidewalk sections along Belmore Terrace, Forest Hill Boulevard, and Ishnala Circle.
  • The sign shop continues creating signs for replacing damaged signs and various department requests, as needed.
 Surface Water Management & Preserve Maintenance
  • Clean debris from various canal ends and pump stations, Village wide.
  • Marcinkoski began miscellaneous swale work along Westhampton Circle.
 Aquatics and Sport Facilities
  • Continue with daily maintenance of pool pumps at the Aquatics Center.
  • Continue with daily inspections at the Aquatics Center and Tennis Center.
  • Completed repairs on the Flow-meter pumps at the Aquatics Center.
  • Installed new barrier gates at the three-way stop signs at Village Park.   
  • Continue with daily athletic field mowing and maintenance on all fields, Village wide.
  • Continue maintaining turf at the Amphitheater and Patriot Memorial.
  • Completed setup and breakdown of the following events:
    • National Football Tournament.
    • Winterfest.
    • Holiday Parade.
 Custodial Services
  • Continue cleaning and sanitizing facilities, Village wide.
OFMB
Delinquent Utility Accounts: There were 43 disconnects scheduled for the week ending December 9th.     
 
Purchasing
Bids/RFPs/RFQs:
  • RFQ 202214 - Architectural and Engineering Services for the Construction of an Aquatics Facility – Authorization to Negotiate was presented at the September 6th Council meeting.  A negotiation session was held on September 15th.  Contract award consideration is scheduled to be presented at the January 10, 2023 Council meeting. 
  • ITB 202301 - Purchase and Delivery of Public Works Chemicals - Three (3) bids were received on November 30th.  Purchasing and Public Works are reviewing.    
  • Notice of Unsolicited Proposal - A proposal for a master marketing agreement for the marketing and leasing of Wellington-owned (or Acme-owned) properties to wireless service providers for developing, constructing and operating wireless communication facilities was advertised on November 14th.  Interested parties shall submit a proposal no later than 5:00pm on December 14th.   
  • RFQ 202304 - Professional Consulting Services on Continuing Contract Basis – Submittals are due December 19th.
  • ITB 202302 - Landscape Maintenance Services Master Bid – Bids are due January 11th.
  • ITB 202303 - Aquatic Vegetation Control Services – Bids are due January 11th.
A cone of silence is in effect for the RFQ listed above.  All questions or concerns regarding any such solicitations should be directed to the Purchasing Department.

Audit
Staff is working with Grau & Associates onsite to begin the annual audit for the year ending September 30, 2022.

The Communications Department is working on filming and editing multiple Public Service Announcements, including Youth Council Video Contest, Service Awards, Code Enforcement Appreciation Week, Town Center Phase II Update, Covid 19 and Why Do I Serve.  

Social Media promotion focuses on the promotion of Holiday Events this week including Winterfest,  Annual Holiday Parade, Annual Holiday Boat Parade and Children's Fishing Classic, Holiday Parade road closure notifications. Tom Atkins Civics 101 Program Council meeting with Palm Beach Central High School, Hometown Holiday Toy Drive reminders, Clerk & Comptroller Live video chat feature, weekend holiday event coverage and promotion, Covid testing sites to close in December.
