Hi Everyone,
We were fortunate that the skies cleared in time for our final race in the Spoken Cycles Summer Series - the Individual Time Trial. Attached are the results with 71 riders leaving at 30-second intervals on the 12 km course. Congratulations to Alex Heaney who recorded the fastest time with 13.51 minutes.
It was great to see everyone at the Prizegiving, especially all the new club members who have been introduced to the sport of cycling during this current series. On behalf of the committee, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in organising and running the Summer Series– your efforts and assistance are very much appreciated. Thank you to Brian Fleck for his hard work running the U15 programme, the U15 parents who assisted Brian, Colin Clifton for driving the Lead Car during this series, Diane Tonks for sorting the race numbers each week, Marcel Te Brake and his team of helpers for organising and running the BBQ at the Prize-giving and to Wayne Strong for setting up and taking down the course each Tuesday night.
We also thank our photographer friend, Arthur Uden for taking the time to 'snap the action' during the year. I uploaded his photos to our Facebook page this morning.
A big thank you to my 'partners in crime,' Heather Smyth and Sonya Davis and to Nathan Cox from Dynamo Events for timing the series - we couldn't do it without you!
Congratulations to the Summer Series Winners, and to those whose names were drawn out for Free 2023 Summer Series Pass – Harrison Frost, John Williamson, David Graham, Lesley Vanner, Phil Brown, and Rob Shirley When you pre-register for the next series, just tick 'pay cash' in Week 1 and bring along your voucher to the first race.
