Dear Friend of Big Shoulders Fund,
Through your continued support of our network of 92 schools, you are giving 25,000 deserving students a gift that lasts a lifetime – the gift of education. You are making a difference in the lives of many, including scholar alumna Lakeisha. Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, Lakeisha was able to attend St. Malachy School with the support of Big Shoulders Fund. Today, Lakeisha is a senior at DePaul University, a Canning and a Greer Scholar, majoring in computer science with plans to pursue a master’s degree in cyber security.
Hers is just one of the thousands of success stories that you are helping to write each year. Big Shoulders Fund alumni graduate college at twice the national rate, with Black and Latino alumni graduating college at three times and four times the national rate respectively. In addition, alumni go on to vote, volunteer, and donate at rates higher than their peers.
As we look ahead to 2023, I am filled with hope for the next generation of students who are striding in Lakeisha’s footsteps. That hope comes from knowing that you and so many others are standing behind them. For that, all of us at Big Shoulders Fund give you thanks.
