A Note From Paula

It's 2023! Is it me, or was 2022 faster paced than typical years? Here's hoping 2023 is slower and will allow all of us to take our time and carefully accomplish all of the goals we set for ourselves. Though we often think of goals in terms of work and tasks, our ultimate goal should be care for ourselves. Being healthy and happy is so important, and I wish that for you all in 2023.

That said, doing the work is important to us at Healthy Savannah. We are ready for what the new year brings and discovering new ways to engage our community. There is a lot before us, and we are excited to reach it with you.

There's Still Time To Donate To Our
End Of Year Fundraiser!
Enjoy a special message from Paula Kreissler.
At its core, Healthy Savannah is a social movement, one that is dedicated to creating an environment in which everyone has an opportunity to live their healthiest life. Our motto is connect, inspire, grow. We form connections with local organizations and members of the community. We inspire each other to make change. We grow our social movement by reaching out to people who share our vision. We champion efforts that promote health equity and advocate for Savannah's most vulnerable populations.

We is an important word to us, because we are Healthy Savannah. You and me. You are at the center of all that we do. Your support powers our movement.

2023 is here. It will be an important year for us. There is a lot we plan to do to increase access to healthy food, opportunities for physical activity, and connections to helpful resources for members of our community. We need you to help us accomplish our goals. A one-time or recurring donation in an amount of your choosing will be key to our ability to make lasting changes that will benefit our community.

I thank you for your time and consideration and want to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. Together, we will make 2023 an amazing year.

New Year, New Opportunities
The new year means new beginnings for two members of the Healthy Savannah team. Larson Ashford and Ashley Rainge-Shields have both accepted new positions with other organizations. However, they will always be a part of Healthy Savannah. We look forward to their future endeavors and thank them for all we did together. Even when we move on, our bond remains strong.
National Hot Tea Month
January is National Hot Tea Month. Celebrate by brewing up a cup of Health Equi-Tea, a special blend created by Ashford Tea Company in partnership with Healthy Savannah. Health Equi-Tea is a loose, tasty tisane with great ingredients that can be served hot or cold. Enjoy this special blend of sliced turmeric, rooibos, fennel, Melissa’s leaves, coconut flakes, sea buckthorn, aloe vera, chamomile, sweet blackberry leaves, peppermint, blue cornflower blossoms, and chlorella algae powder. The ingredients come with a suite of potential health benefits, including reducing inflammation, aiding digestion, improving mood, and helping with sleep and relaxation.

Healthy Savannah and Ashford Tea Company share a commitment to instilling a culture of health in Savannah and building power within the community. We seek to reach beyond and break down the barriers that create and exacerbate health disparities. Together, we promote health equity, the ability for all people to attain their full health potential and freely live, learn, work, and play. We achieve our mission through community education and engagement. We endeavor to achieve equitable outcomes for all Savannahians.

Support our vision with Health Equi-Tea. A portion of the proceeds directly supports the work of Healthy Savannah.

Join us this Tuesday, January 3, for a walk at Laurel Grove South. If you can't join us in person, make sure to check out the live stream on our Facebook

Chatham County Park Spotlight
Our first two months of senior programs were great! We took steps forward by embracing several seniors. We understand the COVID-19 shutdown has isolated much of our elderly community members. We strongly feel that our senior program will lead to better physical health and quality of life. Chatham County Parks and Recreation is always looking to improve, grow, and be the best recreation department in the world! Our recreation specialists are working tirelessly to keep our programs interesting, fun, and safe. As we develop our wellness plans, we will keep everyone informed by posting our monthly calendar on our website.
