MENTEE TESTIMONIAL

"Joining the Marine Society's Coming Ashore programme is probably one of the most advantageous decisions I have ever made. I wanted a move ashore to be closer to my family and start a new challenge. Being a seafarer from leaving School meant that I was safe in the comfort of what I knew, ships and the sea. Having a mentor allowed me to broaden my horizon and explore new opportunities. Being given the tools to enable me to improve my CV and carry out training online is brilliant and was an absolute game changer for me.

I have to say having an impartial mentor there every step of the way, makes a massive positive difference to the journey. I am still at the start of my work going from Chief officer to Marine surveyor. My aspiration for the future is to continue to learn lots more about shipping and maritime operations. Something that will undoubtedly happen in my new role.

I would highly recommend the programme for anyone considering a move ashore. Special thanks to the Marine Society for the programme, all the support and the opportunity. In addition, thank you to my mentor Sanket Mahajan from Onboard Maritime who has given his own time, shown great patience and given lots of sound advice. In the words of Tim Ferriss 'life’s too short to think small' "

In an industry as international as shipping, it is impossible for a ship operator to have offices in every port where its ships might call. Instead, ship operators rely on a network of port agents to act as their eyes and ears to ensure the safe and secure running of their ships.

Port Agency examines in detail this critical front-line role. From the day-to-day duties expected of a port agent and the legal background to the role, to the mass of documentation needed and relationships with principals, Port Agency guides the reader through this fascinating aspect of the shipping industry.

Cases and Materials on the Carriage of Goods by Sea, 5th Edition
£56.99

This fifth edition, offers tailored coverage of the most commonly taught topics on Carriage of Goods by Sea courses.
