KS WELI has created this FoundHER Holiday Guide to showcase UT Austin students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community start-ups. These founders have participated in the KS WELI FoundHER Program -- and we love featuring them each holiday season as a visual representation that "if you can see her, you can be her."
This Holiday Guide is a perfect and impactful way to show HOW KS WELI transforms passion into purpose. We create leadership experiences led by the next generation of courageous and creative leaders -- where students are empowered to discover their WHY. It includes activities created by our Student Board members, features from our Staff & Interns, and blog posts from some of our sponsored course students.

KS WELI celebrated the close of another successful semester and kicked off the holiday season with a community holiday party! The theme was cozy holiday attire - sweaters, flannel, and pajamas galore. There was a hot chocolate bar, gingerbread house decorating contest, and holiday cookie exchange. Faith Guerrero, Student Board member and TA for the BuildHER Leadership Program, won the favorite cookie award!

KS WELI Announces Awards for UN World Logic Day 2023
KS WELI will announce two awards for World Logic Day hosted in Austin, TX, on January 12th at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Both awards will honor work in alignment with the United Nations SDG 5, gender equality and women empowerment.

Discovery to Impact, the newly named group leading The University of Texas at Austin’s research commercialization and innovation efforts, has formed a new $10 million UT Seed Fund. Meet our December 2022 FoundHER: Mia Mihailovic of Ama BioTech Inc.!
Ama BioTech Inc. is a female-owned medical diagnostic company founded by three best friends: Mia Mihailovic, Paul Amador, and Samuel Mihelic. They are working to confront the urgent STD epidemic that has disproportionately devastating consequences for women, especially those in marginalized communities. They believe that the current model of STD testing is outdated, inaccessible and inefficient, leaving vulnerable populations uninformed about their health status. These issues are further compounded by the asymptomatic nature of many STDs in women. To enable all women to be in control of their personal health, they are developing molecular technologies to integrate into an affordable, fully-at-home STD diagnostic product specifically for menstruating women. Their diagnostic device, designed for routine use, is a consumer-performed two-step test (similar to BinaxNOW COVID-19) for use with menstrual fluid. Their intended device will lower the incidence of severe health consequences (such as infertility or cancer) associated with STDs by bridging the current gap between infection and early intervention.
