Littleton Launches New Websites, New Domain Name
|
|
|
On December 1, Littleton launched four new websites: the city's main website, plus three new sub-sites:
The city’s main website also changed its domain name from LittletonGov.org to LittletonCO.gov. Switching to the .gov domain provides added security for government agencies, as well as other benefits: the official ".gov" domain signals trust and credibility; only U.S.-based government organizations are eligible for .gov domains which makes them harder to spoof.
The city has many goals for its new websites:
- Easier access and expanded online city services
- Improved content search
- Easy contact with the "right" city department
- ADA compliance
- Multi-lingual
- A new "mobile-first" modern design
- Consistency and shared information between the main website and the library, museum, and police sub-sites
- New content management system allows many city departments to manage and maintain their content
