KĀKAHU KURA 2023

The school uniform has had some minor changes to adapt to the needs of the tauira and kura, one of the reasons is due to the difficulty in purchasing some stock items.

The changes have been made to the following items:
 - polo top (just different fabric)
 - grey skirt (charcoal colour)
 - grey shorts (charcoal colour and no longer cargo short)
 - PE uniform

Any returning students can continue to wear their existing uniform however by 2026 we will expect all tauira to have changed to the new uniform items.

Students are expected to abide by the uniform code and guidelines at all times, as a representative of the school while attending and travelling to kura.

Ngā Taiātea Wharekura has partnered with NZ Uniforms to give greater access to the whānau to purchase uniforms from a retail outlet open 6 days of the week and have payment options.

SPORTS FUNDING SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE

Ngā Taiātea Wharekura has been selected to administer sporting sponsorships for our tauira, generously given by Apollo Projects.
The funds are to be used for individual students that meet the following criteria:
  • There is a demonstrable need (e.g., disadvantaged circumstances) or financial barrier to participation in sport meaning the student might not participate
  • The individual shows positive interest, ability and potential in their sport
  • Funding would assist in potentially providing a better long-term outcome for that student in sport and life
  • Funding could cover direct payment of sports fees, sporting equipment, support services, travel to events etc.

How to apply:
  • Students would apply for the Apollo Projects Sports Grant via this online form,  which would be reviewed and approved by the Sports Committee. Please note that your application is strictly confidential unless agreed otherwise with you.
  • A limit of $500 per student per annum* to be applied
  • If your application is successful, the agreed costs will be paid on behalf of the student (the funding will not be paid directly to the student).

*For this grant, the funding year is from now until 31 August 2023.

The applications are to be made ahead of time – payments will not be made after the event.

SUBJECT SELECTION FOR SENIOR CLASSES 2023

We are asking ākonga and their whānau to complete subject selections for the senior classes for 2023.  These are the ākonga who are currently Tau 10, Tau 11 and 12 this year.

Links to our online forms have been emailed to all ākonga kura email addresses and can be found below. We encourage ākonga to discuss their choices with their whānau and if you have any questions, to talk to your Kaiārahi or the subject teachers. Ākonga will stay in the subjects they select for the whole year. If your choices change between now and the beginning of 2023, you will have time to make changes to your selection at the beginning of 2023 (i.e. you are not locked into these choices right now).
These forms give us an idea of what subjects our ākonga would like to focus on in 2023 and potential class sizes for those subjects.  This information then tells us how many classes we may need per subject and which kaiako to align with those classes.
