HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAYS!

Doheny Update
December 2022

This year, spread a lot of cheer and join us in supporting our foundation with a gift of MEMBERSHIP or a direct DONATION.

The DSBF Membership includes a 50% discount on Dana Wharf Whale Watching Tours, our yearly Wildlife Marine Membership Cruise, our Spring Membership BBQ and our Monthly e-Newsletter and invitations to participate in special projects and events.  The best part is ... there aren't any meetings!

Direct Donations are also welcomed!  Our aquarium sea life is especially delighted when that happens as they know they will receive a special holiday treat!

Your membership and donations support our mission to promote educational and interpretive activities in the park and to assist with the preservation and restoration of its interpretive facilities. Your contributions this year helped us to support the following programs at Doheny State Beach: Visitor Center Aquarium & Displays-Park Naturalist Position-Native Plant Restoration-Campground Beautification & Signage-Camp Host Program-Dog Waste Stations & Bags-Junior Rangers Program-Junior Lifeguard Program-Volunteer Programs-Park Maintenance & Signage-State Parks General Support

Visit our website for more information or log on directly to make a donation.

You can also donate while your shopping online through Amazon Smiles.  Please consider shopping through our Amazon Smile page.  No cost to you and Amazon makes a donation to the Foundation. Just click the link and order as usual. If you bookmark the page, each time you use the page to shop with Amazon, they will donate to us.

Visitor Center & Aquarium Updates
The Visitor Center/Aquarium is currently open in December on Fridays 11-2 and Saturday and Sundays 10-4. (Closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Years Day)

LOBSTER LOVE!  We are so excited to have a new marine life member in the Aquarium.  LARRY THE LOBSTER!  Larry the Lobster was recently donated to the Aquarium by our friend Shayla at JON'S FISH MARKET in Dana Point Harbor.  Larry has been getting acclimated to his new digs and has been a bit shy for a photo, so this is a photo of one of our other lobsters.  Larry is approximately 30 years old and weighs 7lbs.  As soon as Larry is ready for his close up, we will post a photo.

We invite everyone to come down and check out the Whale bones, aquarium tanks, tide pool re-creation and wildlife displays and then take a walk through the Butterfly Garden.

Through your support at our Pop Up, Visitor Center and Memberships we are able to continue our dedication to the protection of the park's beaches, facilities, marine refuge and historical and cultural stories.

The Visitor Center Store is now located as our Pop Up on the boardwalk next to the bike rentals and Tower 12.  We are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10-4 (weather permitting).  Stop by and pick up your Doheny goods and gear.   Thank you for your support!
DOHENY STORE POP UP has a great new look and you can too in our Doheny Gear!  The Pop Up is located on the boardwalk just north of the bike rental. Look for the beautiful blue Doheny State Beach Foundation canopies.  We are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10-4 (weather permitting).  We have some new sweatshirts, ladies shirts and kids shirts with new inventory arriving each week.  Everyone loves to wear their Doheny gear, so load up for Christmas!  We will be CLOSED December 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1st.  All the proceeds stay in the park and help support the programs and projects.  Camphost Tim and Patti (not pictured) and mascot Frankie are our Pop Up Superstars for the next several months.  They hail from Wisconsin, so stop by and say Hi.

Check out our featured new item "Doheny Surfing Beach" puzzle.  This puzzle features all of the local known spots and characters that make our beach so special.  Local artist Kurt Snibbe puts his whimsical twist on our iconic location and challenges you to paddle your way through putting together this 1,000 piece puzzle.  Makes a great holiday gift for your DoHo surfer! Come by the Pop Up and pick yours up for $29.99.  Limited quantities.
