“Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.” – Mark Twain
Greetings Laurel Hall Families:
We have several exciting projects in the works that will improve an already dynamic Laurel Hall educational experience. As part of this program revitalization, we will have some changes to the campus that include relocating both the art and drama rooms. There will also be software upgrades for all computers in the PC Lab (a project which is nearly completed), an overhaul of the Room 4 Reading Room (serving grades TK-3), and a much-needed refurbishing of the current Innovation Lab (located on the ground floor of the two-story building) into a Library/Enrichment Center.
For the first phase of this project, affectionately being referred to as the “Reading Room Refresh”, we are hopeful that Room 4 (commonly known as the TK-3 library) will be ready for student use in January, upon return from Christmas break. It is in this room, that we will bring back a popular specialty opportunity for students in grades TK-3 that was in place prior to the start of the pandemic. Room 4 will be designated for students in TK-3 for story time and pleasure reading. The desire is that it will be overseen by parent “librarians” and guest-readers. To make this experience possible, I am in search of a few parents who can commit to volunteering time on a regular basis in this capacity of a parent librarian for the “littles”. While there will be little to no compensation, the experience of being a parent librarian will be priceless!
Please contact me directly, as soon as possible, if you are interested.
In other news, we have come to the end of the first trimester and head toward our three-week holiday break. Our winter season of sports is upon us, as are middle school spring musical rehearsals. It is also that magical time of the school year, capped by spectacular student musical performances that begin next week:
The Laurel Hall 2nd-5th grade elementary concert will be held in the church on Wednesday evening, December 7th. The middle school instrumental concert, also held at the church, takes place on Wednesday evening, December 14th. Our TK, kindergarten, and 1st grade holiday concert will be held in Parish Hall on Thursday morning, December 15th. All are welcome to attend these events.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I wish for you peace, love, and joy throughout this wonderful season.
