Results of Citizen Science project: "The Housing Experiment"

Vetenskap & Allmänhet have published the results of their three-month study on the environmental barriers restricting ease of movement in Swedish homes.

Through the use of the Housing Experiment app, citizen scientists — students and senior citizens — collected the information sought by researchers for analysis.
Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) at an Institutional Level

A new short animation film from Co-Change has been made on responsible research and innovation (RRI). The video shows why it is important for researchers, research institutes, and research funders to build relationships with society and how to integrate this into their institutional operations, even in the form of citizen science.
SPOTTERON CS App Platform update

Communication between users and the project is essential to modern interactive citizen science. In the new SPOTTERON CS app platform update, all citizen science apps now integrate "User Message Boards" as a core part of the community toolkit. Supported by Push-Notifications and @User-Tagging, the new feature enables a new level of direct communication in citizen science apps.

ECSA PROJECT UPDATES
ACCTING has a new blog: Sustainability Transformation: What Does it Mean? The blog expands on the second ACCTING seminar held in early November. It discusses more on what enables and hinders transformation, sheds further light on why transformation is resisted and how can enablers address the existing gaps and foster transformation.
The BioAgora Consortium held its in-person kick-off meeting and official launch event in Helsinki on 9-10 November.

The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA), as an integral part of the project, also participated in the meeting. The kick-off was comprised of interactive workshops that allowed the project partners to visualize and plan their upcoming activities. Additionally, representatives from the European Commission, Biodiversa+ and Eklipse highlighted the importance of the project for biodiversity research and science policy connection in Europe.
The services developed in Cos4Cloud have been used and tested in real scenarios over the last months. One example of this was testing FASTCAT-Edge (to build a do-it-yourself camera trap that records videos and pictures of wildlife activity) and FASTCAT-Cloud (a website service to upload and analyse nature videos and pictures coming from camera traps) with members of the FELIS project that uses camera traps to monitor Catalan mammals, focusing on the wildcat.

In addition, during the ‘Seeing Stars Leiden’ initiative, two apps to collect light measurements were connected to the back-end of the MOBIS service. During this event, the city of Leiden turned off their lights to reconnect with the night sky and view constellations with the naked eye. Read more about MOBIs during this event, here.
