Special Live Presentation

Character Strengths in Action:
Positive-Interactive Behavioral Therapy for Individuals with IDD-MH

Presenter: Dan Tomasulo, PhD, TEP, MFA, MAPP
Teachers College, Columbia University

There is no pre-recorded presentation this month but you can
click here to watch a short preview

During this live presentation, Dr. Tomasulo will provide an overview of P-IBT, a strength-based approach to sustainable change in people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health needs (IDD-MH). Participants will explore theory and practice of a peer group interactive process shown to be effective for short-term and long-term groups. This dynamic process uses role playing, character strength priming and activation, as well as facilitator self-care as primary vehicles for transformation.

This training is not only for therapists as this process can be used by direct support professionals, care coordinators, START team members, and many others providing community-based assistance to strengthen support mechanisms within their program.

This presentation offers a sneak preview of content which will be covered during a weeklong, in-person, certification training opportunity taking place March 13-17th 2023 also facilitated by Dr. Dan Tomasulo. Additional information on that training can be found by clicking here
