I am extremely excited to announce that the UNC Institute for the Environment has exceeded its campaign goal to raise $12 million ahead of the December 31, 2022 campaign close date for the Campaign for Carolina!
This is an enormous accomplishment and speaks to the confidence the IE’s supporters have in our environmental work. The Institute for the Environment is a stronger organization with a brighter future because of the commitments we have received from alumni and friends near and far. Your generosity has helped to strengthen our environmental research capacity, extend our community engagement, and empower a new generation of environmental leaders.
Thank you! Each and every IE staff and faculty member past and present has played an integral role in helping the IE reach its campaign goal. Your amazing environmental work, your proposal writing to fund our environmental programs, writing stories about our top-notch environmental programs, engaging with students, organizations and corporations, meeting with prospects, presenting to the IE BOV, organizing top-notch events, and volunteering on committees. Our success was accomplished because we were able to partner with our Carolina colleagues, individuals – alumni and friends, community organizations, foundations, and corporations with a unified goal to sustain the environment and allow us to live and thrive.
The IE’s Campaign was a part of a larger campus-wide Campaign for Carolina initiative that was publicly launched in 2017 raising more than $5 billion. There are 1,576 public institutions of higher education in the United States. Carolina is now one of just six to hit the $5 billion mark during a single campaign. And we are the first university, public or private, in North Carolina and in the South to reach this lofty number.
Thank you again for your partnership as we continue to strive for a healthy environment through our environmental programs – research, community engagement, sustainability and education.
