The Marquis of Wellesley's History of the Marhatta War [AKA:] Notes Relative to the Late Transactions in the Marhatta Empire.
Wellesley's despatches as C-in-C of the Madras Army during the Mahratta War 1802-03 when, inter al., the Mahratta Force was defeated at the Battles of Assaye & Gwalior. The title page calls for "five military plans" but these are rarely present, a tipped-in note from the Publisher stating that "anxious to gratify the Public by laying before them, at the earliest moment, the following Narrative, would not delay it on account of the Plans, which will be ready in a very few days, and which may be had of him price 4s. 6 d. neatly coloured." Indeed, it is unusual to see even one of the fldg. coloured maps (in this case, the Battle of Delhi, fought on 11th Sept. 1803, & a most excellent map), present. See illustrations on our website. 1804 £425
