Support our #GivingTuesday campaign!

Our inaugural #GivingTuesday campaign has launched!

The Taiwanese American community has experienced a lot over the past three years, ranging from the COVID pandemic to anti-Asian hate crimes. It is more important than ever for us to gather and rebuild our sense of community. Your tax-deductible donation will enable us to do that — no amount is too small!

As a 100% volunteer organization, we rely on the time and effort of our board members to make our events possible. In 2021-2, we planned more than 25 events across the Bay Area. With a refreshed board structure and new members joining every committee this year, we’re excited to organize new upscale social events, develop a fresh workshop series focused on mental health and wellness, and overall, create innovative ways for us to connect with all of you!

What can you expect from us in 2023?

  • The largest Taiwanese American Festival in the US
  • Structured networking events to help local professionals connect
  • More happy hours and intimate, small group dinners
  • Service projects that give back to the Bay Area community
  • Organized hikes and wellness workshops and activities

To kick off our first year participating in #GivingTuesday, we’d like to announce a few special rewards for those who donate to our campaign. Between Tues, November 29 to Tues, December 6, the following prizes* will be awarded:

  • First 4 people who donate $150** or more will receive a Taiwan Bear Care Pack, complete with an “I Love Taiwan” slingbag, a box of 10 paper masks, 2 temperature cards, and a page of illustrated Formosa bear temporary tattoos
  • First 6 people who donate $75 or more will receive a TAP-SF waterbottle
  • 2 random winners who donate any amount $50 or more during campaign week will receive a “Taiwan Soul” tote bag
* Only one prize per person will be awarded. Prizes can be mailed across the continental US! View our Instagram post to check out our prizes.

**For those that make a $150 donation, only $130 will be tax-deductible based on the fair market value of the Taiwan Bear Care Pack ($20). For any donations $150+, the tax-deductible amount will be the donated amount minus $20. Learn more about quid pro quo donations.

Thank you to all of our past donors, whose generosity has successfully enabled our work thus far in promoting Taiwanese American identity in the Bay Area. We look forward to continuing our work in our community next year!

November Events Roundup

Dinner with TAP-SF
Ada and Peter had so much fun hosting another edition of Dinner with TAP-SF! Everyone had rave reviews about their food and the restaurant was spacious with great ambiance. Our conversations ranged from past and future trips back to Taiwan, family, our hopes and dreams, relationships and friendships, and life in the city as well as in suburbs around the Bay Area. We had attendees from San Jose, Sunnyvale, and East Bay in addition to local SFers.

We hope to see you at a future dinner; it's a great way to get to know people in a small group setting in a way that is different from our other events!
White Crowned Sparrow Habitat Restoration
15 participants attended our latest community service event at Golden Gate Park. On this beautiful day, we worked with individuals (some from other organizations as well) to weed gardens, and after a few hours of hard work, the group chose to eat at Tasty Pot to continue conversations and get to know each other more.

Thank you to those that showed up and hope you all enjoyed it!
Check out our video recap of the event!
Virtual Board Game Night
Our first virtual board game night saw 12 participants joining to play fun games like Jackbox and Codenames! During the event, people split up into breakout rooms for some introductions and light chatting.

We're glad everyone had fun — if you missed this board game night and are interested in attending a similar style event, scroll down to our "upcoming events" section for more details on our (in-person) board game event!

The interview would cover your relationship with Taiwan, your motivations and reasons for moving there, any challenges you may have faced adapting to Taiwanese society, whether you feel your gender plays a role on how you are perceived by locals, etc.
