Argentina: Parliament Set to Adopt Zero-Alcohol While Driving Bill
The lower house of Argentina’s parliament passed a zero-alcohol-while-driving Bill in late November with overwhelming support for the bill.
However, the Bill needs to pass the Senate to be adopted and enforced.

Rise in Age-Standardized Rate of Alcohol-Induced Liver Diseases
The researchers report on the global burden of alcohol-induced cirrhosis and other chronic liver diseases in terms of age, sex, and sociodemographic index (SDI) from 1990 to 2019, based on analysis of GBD 2019 data.
Over this period, the age-standardized incidence rate of alcohol-induced cirrhosis and other chronic liver diseases increased globally; however, both the age-standardized mortality rate and DALYs caused by alcohol-induced cirrhosis and other chronic liver diseases showed decreasing trends.

Fetus’ Exposure to Even Small Amounts of Alcohol Changes Baby’s Brain Structure
Alcohol exposure even in low amounts during pregnancy can change the baby’s brain structure and delay brain development, according to a new MRI study. These results have been presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
