“Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him” (John 6: 56)
Christ is present entirely in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. When you approach this great Sacrament with a contrite heart, Christ Himself invisibly stands before you. He is closer to you at that moment, is more closely tied to you, than those who visibly surround you. And in Christ, we, although still wanderers, covered with dust from our earthly path, “have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem and the spirits of the righteous, made perfect”. This fellowship is granted us by Jesus, the “Mediator of a new Covenant and by the sprinkled blood”, which purified them and purifies us “from all sin” (Heb. 12: 22-24).
Cleansed from everything worldly and vain, we are approaching those who have already completed their earthly journey. Love does not die, it lives forever, and the love for those dear to us who have died is a living link with that better world to which we are striving. Much concerning the afterlife is concealed from us, but stronger than any material evidence, there lives in our soul the conviction of immortality, which gives us the strength to endure separation from those who have died, hoping for and not doubting meeting and eternally uniting with them beyond the grave.

«Ядущий Мою плоть и пиющий Мою кровь пребывает во Мне, и Я в нем» (Ин. 6:56)
В Таинстве Евхаристии Христос присутствует всецело. Когда вы в сокрушении сердечном приступаете к сему великому Таинству, Сам Христос невидимо стоит перед вами. Он еще ближе к вам в эту минуту, еще теснее связан с вами, чем те, которые видимо окружают вас. И во Христе мы, хотя еще и странники, запыленные земным путем, «приступаем к Небесному Иерусалиму и к духам праведников, достигших совершенства». Это общение даруется нам «Ходатаем Нового Завета Иисусом и Кровью кропления», которая их очистила и нас очищает «от всякого греха» (Евр. 12:22–24).
Очищенные от всего земного, суетного, мы приближаемся к уже окончившим свой земной путь. Любовь не умирает, она вечно живет, и любовь эта к нашим дорогим отшедшим составляет живое звено с тем лучшим миром, к которому мы стремимся. Многое, касающееся загробного мира, от нас сокрыто, но сильнее всякого вещественного доказательства живет в душе убеждение бессмертия, которое дает нам силу переносить разлуку с умершими, уповая на несомненное свидание за гробом и на вечное соединение.
