Dear Paris Presbyterian Church Family,

It is a blessing to be able to join you all during this season of Advent as your Transitional Pastor. As a Transitional Pastor it is my joy to celebrate the history of Paris Presbyterian, assess the current ministry and mission of Paris with Session and to look to God as we discern his preferred chosen future for Paris so that when, in His timing, the new installed pastor is called we can celebrate together.

Just a little about myself and my family: I am originally from Seattle, Washington, my husband Shawn is from Escanaba, Michigan and we met when I was working as a Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries in Dayton, Ohio and he owned a trucking company there. We were married in Dayton in 2009, and Madelyn was born in 2014. Up until this past April we had a Lab/Dane/Hound named Rick but after 13 years God called him home. (Yes, I believe dogs go to heaven—and other pets as well!). We love to cook together (Shawn is an outstanding cook!), play Uno (Madelyn is cute but vicious at cards!) and spend time together. Our favorite season is Christmas, and we are looking forward to hosting the congregation on December 10th from 1-4 for an Open House at the manse. Some people have asked me how I preferred to be addressed and I invite all adults to just refer to me as “Nadia” or if you feel more comfortable, “Pastor Nadia” which is what I ask the kiddos to call me. I like to joke that “Reverend” only comes out for formal occasions.

In the next few of months, you’ll see me out and about the community, visiting congregation members and learning about the area and what makes Paris Presbyterian part of your extended family. Then Session and I will take that information and partner in prayer and discernment as to how God would like us to define mission, vision, and strategic priorities for Paris Presbyterian as we move into the future. Please know that I encourage congregation members to stop by and visit as well—if my door is open, it’s open to you! I am usually in the office Monday-Thursday 9-5 (depending on visitation schedule) with my Sabbath day Friday.

I look forward to serving you as your transitional pastor while I am at Paris and learning from you all as we travel this journey as God’s children together.

Blessings,
Rev. Nadia Stropich
