Darkening Becomes Enlightening

One of my clients whom I've seen for the past few months came to me experiencing serious anxiety about losing her memory, given that both of her parents had succumbed from Alzheimer's.

She was already experiencing some memory issues.

She told me this week that she stopped feeling anxious from our very first session. It occurred to this lovely contemplative woman that no one — no matter how young, old, healthy, or unhealthy — really knows when and how they are going to die.

She understands that all we really have is the present moment, and she feels deep gratitude to be alive, to be living her life, and what a precious gift it is, even with glitches in her memory.

She left her hearing aids here after our most recent session. I found them, she got them, and together we managed to make it right — maybe even better, because that was yet another good connection between us.

Craniosacral biodynamics feels good and right to her. During sessions, she's experienced knowledge being poured into her brain and a dream being explained. She falls asleep on my table sometimes and loves how she feels when she awakens.

She notices how perfect her handwriting is after our sessions when she writes me a check.

"It's just so much goodness!" she says about Craniosacral Biodynamics.

So much of the beauty of life happens in the turn-around: when we see the good in the bad, when suffering transforms into love, when the lengthening of the nights pauses and transforms into the lengthening of the days.

Think of the winter solstice — a turning point for the earth — and reflect on turnarounds in your lives. What turnaround do you most desire? May it be so.

Winter solstice happens December 21 at 3:47 pm Central time.

New exploration: Biodynamic Meditation

When I started training in Craniosacral Biodynamics in 2013, I didn't understand the lofty language used to describe experiences practitioners encounter. Phrases such as the Breath of Life, the Long Tide, and the Inherent Treatment Plan were so abstract!

I was curious: "But what does it feel like? How do you know?"

I began identifying various states in my daily meditations and checking in with my teachers, to get some verification that I was on the right track.

I wondered then why Biodynamic Meditation didn't already exist in the world. I mean, if Craniosacral Biodynamics is about practitioners facilitating healing in clients, could Biodynamic Meditation facilitate self-healing? What’s the difference between them?

Craniosacral Biodynamics is advanced bodywork/energy work that requires training to develop skills in grounding; relating to clients through touch, language, and energetic presence; sensing anatomy precisely; and tracking the inherent healing process. It takes years to learn and master.

Biodynamic Meditation is a simplified version of Craniosacral Biodynamics. It is intended to be a solo or group meditation practice for the purpose of self-knowledge and self-healing.

I've been practicing and posting about my own Biodynamic Meditation sessions for over a month now, simplifying the language to make it easy to learn, even for children.

I don't believe Biodynamic Meditation could ever replace Craniosacral Biodynamic sessions. A trained practitioner is always going to be more skilled — but a daily practice could be so valuable in many ways, including getting in touch with your own nature and deepening your appreciation for your life.

Done regularly, it could make a difference for those suffering from serious health issues...as along as they can be still, turn their attention inward, and notice their sensations, with a little guidance.

Reasons people received Craniosacral Biodynamics, Fall 2022

I'm writing seasonal summaries of why my clients sought sessions with me. I use their words and categorize their reasons as being either specific physical issues or whole body issues.

Briefly, Craniosacral Biodynamics helps with specific pains and tensions, misalignment, digestive issues, recovery from illness and infection, heartbreak, cancer, imprints, and more.

Whole body issues include anxiety, auto-immune issues, depletion, fatigue, menopause, mold allergy, and all kinds of stress. And more.

Here's the link to the latest summary.

Gift suggestions

For those with neck and jaw issues, I can’t recommend the Therapeutica Sleeping Pillow enough. A lot of pillows say they’re therapeutic, but this is the only one where you measure your shoulder width to get the right size for your body, important for side sleepers to keep the neck and jaw aligned. It also supports the curve of the neck for back sleepers. Comes with a 5-year warranty.

I offer my clients their choice of a top sheet, light blanket, medium blanket, or weighted blanket, and guess which one is most requested — by far? The weighted blanket! People love the way it hugs the body. It feels reassuring and keeps you warm.

I offer gift certificates in the amounts of $165 and $135, for either 90-minute or 60-minute sessions at my West Lake Hills office. You can order at the last minute and print the certificate to give the receiver. ❤️

I got a rebounder (mini-trampoline) so I can exercise more at home. I sometimes play music and bounce-dance! It has a handle to keep the user safe, folds in half for storage, and comes with a cover. Great for lymphatic flow (think detox), immunity, pelvic floor health, bone density, and FUN! (Be safe, please.)

A floatation spa session helps you shift out of stress and into deep relaxation. Your body absorbs magnesium from the Epsom salt, which helps you float. When you really need a break, this will do it! This place offers a cold plunge and IR sauna as well.
