“Our advocate and Inclusion BC have been hugely instrumental in helping us navigate the CLBC system. Their advocacy work and resources are the reason we are receiving the proper support services for my 19-year-old daughter. Without our advocate’s help, progress in these areas would be a lot slower and my daughter's rights would not always be considered.

Unfortunately, in BC, when you have a family member with a disability, it seems like it's an ongoing, uphill battle making sure they are properly cared for and able to lead a fulfilling life. Inclusion BC definitely makes that battle less difficult and less time-consuming.”

— Colin, Parent

Dear Friend,

The Community Inclusion Advocacy program at Inclusion BC is the most important work that we do as a provincial advocacy organization. This work keeps us grounded in the lived experiences of people in community as we advocate for change. Every day, parents like Colin reach out to the Inclusion BC Advocacy Team looking for help to navigate complex systems in education, adult services, child care, health care, and community services. These systems of support often do not meet people where they are in their life and can add complexity for families already in difficult and overwhelming situations.

This holiday season, we need your support to help keep people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families supported to thrive in their communities.

As we support people with their individual advocacy, we create a collective voice to advocate for changes in systems and government, and to improve the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of life.

Since last year, calls to our Advocacy Line have increased by 18%, which means that our team has had to work harder to ensure that everyone receives the support they need.

Please join us in expanding our capacity to take more calls, guide more families, and advocate for disability inclusion in British Columbia by signing up as a Circle of Friends monthly donor or making a one-time donation this winter.

Your contributions will go directly to supporting our Community Inclusion Advocacy Program which allows us to continue our work with people like Colin to foster an inclusive future for everyone.

We believe in a world where everybody belongs and is given every opportunity to live with dignity and thrive in their communities. You can help create meaningful change now and for future generations.

In gratitude,
