In 2023, life takes the centre stage: the symbiotic, the habitats, the life balances and life cycles; nest, cave, hive and feeding chamber.
The wild and blooming ideas of our time centered around concepts such as regenerative design, bio-inclusive biomimicry, symbiotic co-creation, architectural asceticism and do-ocracy will be the guidelines for our programming. We will seek to expand our current discussion about the future of urban planning and built environments to foster the necessary recalibration of our architectural imagination for the age of climate and ecological breakdown.
11 days of festival from 1.-11. June, a special program during the UIA2023CPH World Congress from 2.-6. July, events and exhibitions at Halmtorvet 27 all year round and a series of digital initiatives will encourage us to rethink the relationship between form and life through new narratives, metaphors and models for architecture and architectural production.

You can now submit your film for our film and architecture festival taking place 1.-11. of June 2023. Our film program this year will reflect our theme Life Form.
Every year we have a big curated film programme of 40-90 film titles based partly on submissions. We are looking for both documentaries, fiction and hybrid formats.
CAFx ArchDaily: New Article Series on Film & Inclusive Design
Believing in the power of film to depict and communicate effectively the material and immaterial qualities of socially sustainable design, CAFx launched a short film competition aimed at documenting examples of inclusive design found in different geographical contexts, while disseminating this knowledge across borders to inspire students, researchers, practitioners and decision makers worldwide working with inclusivity.
In collaboration with ArchDaily, we are launching an article series to dig deep into inclusive design practices and explore the potential of the film medium in architecture, focusing on the crossing between the two disciplines. The first article is out now on ArchDaily.
Creating Sustainable Cities with Carlos Moreno & Martha Thorne
The mini-symposium held by CAFx with keynote speakers Martha Thorne and Carlos Moreno is now a podcast! On CAFx Journal you can listen back to their short lectures and exciting conversation about which solutions we should implement to create socially and environmentally sustainable cities.
Which design solutions contribute to creating more inclusive spaces for everybody?
The Film Mosaic: Leave No One Behind is the short film competition calling for a max. 3-minute-long film documenting a non-discriminatory design, architecture, urban plan or practice that promotes the fight against inequality in the built or grown environment around you.
