CALL FOR 2023 LEADERSHIP COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
Dear Apostles family,

Each year our community elects members to serve on the Leadership Council. This is a prayerful and Spirit-led process whereby we as a church family ask God to provide guidance and raise up leaders who will serve in this role. We are so grateful to Kathy Phillips, Bridget Wade and Mike Rogers, who have completed their LC commitment as members of our 2020 class. We especially want to recognize Mike for serving two terms (since 2017). Per our bylaws, LC members are eligible to be nominated for one consecutive term. Kathy and Bridget are therefore eligible for nomination to the class of 2023.

Nominations must be submitted no later than January 13th, 2023.

What is the Leadership Council?
The Leadership Council (LC) provides spiritual leadership to our community and works closely with the Lead Pastor in support of the mission and ministry of Apostles.  The LC consists of at least 9 non-staff, non-ordained leaders who are elected by the community.

LC members are elected to three-year terms and may serve up to two consecutive terms.  Please note that no immediate family of a paid staff member is eligible to serve on the Leadership Council.

What is the election process?
Once nominations are received, candidates are asked to submit a questionnaire which is prayerfully considered by a seven-member Leadership Discernment Team (LDT). The LDT consists of all outgoing LC members and non-council church members appointed by the Senior Pastor. The LDT then recommends a slate or group of candidates to the Leadership Council. If approved by the Council, the slate is then presented to the community for consideration two weeks in advance of the annual meeting. During this period, the congregation is asked to pray over the slate and submit input to the LC. The slate is approved or disapproved by simple majority vote at the annual meeting. All voting members (age 18+) of Apostles are eligible to vote.

The congregation will vote on the slate during our Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 12th.

Who is eligible to serve on the Leadership Council?
Per the Apostles bylaws, to be eligible to serve on the Leadership Council candidates must:
1) Be voting members of Apostles in good standing.
2) Have demonstrated Christlike character such as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:6-9
3) Have demonstrated their commitment to the Vision and Mission of Apostles
4) Have demonstrated leadership ability and a lifestyle of discipleship
