904WARD has partnered with the Equal Justice Initiative since 2018 to create the Jacksonville Community Remembrance Project (JCRP). JCRP is made up of dedicated and passionate volunteer community leaders with the purpose of memorializing the African American victims of racial terror lynchings in Duval County.
One of the ways we memorialize these victims is with a sacred Soil Collection Ceremony. The Soil Collection Ceremony serves as a way to acknowledge the life that was unjustly taken without consequences. Additionally, it serves as a way to till the ground to plant seeds of reconciliation within our community.
We invite you to join us for the Soil Collection Ceremony for Mr. Edgar Phillips on Sunday, December 11th at 3PM at McGirts Creek Park.
