TONIGHT
Tuesday 13th December
6pm in the Members Bar

The Sailing Development Program is a new sailing program which will allow RGYC to host keelboat & adult learn to sail courses, youth & high performance coaching, match racing, teams racing, corporate & community sailing experiences, and world-class one-design regattas. Based on similar programs at clubs such as the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club & Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, these programs are highly successful and sought after amongst sailors.

Members are invited to an information session, to be held at the club on Tuesday 13th December at 6:00 pm, to learn more about the proposed programs.
It has been all about safety last week for the Sassy Sailing Sisters! After another amazing workshop on ‘Emergency Preparedness’ delivered by Jackie Parry of Sistership Training, the week ended with another face-to-face session,  delivered on Saturday morning at RGYC   by Vanessa Spark, Education Officer from Safe Transport Victoria.
The group was very much engaged by Vanessa's delivery which had the added  bonus of coming from her direct experience as a sailor. It’s great to see that the girls are taking advantage of this safe space to grow, ask questions and share personal experiences. As usual, the learning is not without some fun involved. Thank you Fiona for volunteering to demonstrate the activation of the PFD before the hands-on session in servicing them.
Vanessa concluded the day with a very much appreciated flare demonstration, leaving the girls with increased knowledge and a goodies bag ! To thank the attendees, Vanessa also added a Safe Transport Victoria $30 voucher to be used towards the purchase of safety equipment. What a great way to end this week!

THE SASSY SAILING SISTERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IS PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY:
2022 RGYC FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY
The club was packed on Sunday, buzzing with activities for the 2022 RGYC Family Christmas Party.
What a vibe! Our Santa helpers were busy at Soo's bar, cooking up a storm at the sound of Christmas carols, with some odd dance moves seen whilst prepping and  handing out the food. So much fun!
It was great to see so many kids running around chasing the next clue for the Christmas Treasure Hunt or drawing great pictures and writing letters for Santa.

Santa took time in his very busy scheduled and, as per tradition, dropped in at RGYC bringing lollies to all children and collecting last minute letters. Thank you Santa! All smiles and cheers all-round!

A big thank you to Julie, Rochelle, Lynne, Stephanie, Laura, Bill and GP for the hard work leading to and on the day. We would not be able to do any of these events without our volunteers!

The Christmas festivities will continue next Wednesday 21st December for our Christmas themed twilight race. Get into the spirit and dress up your boat and crew! We will have a prize for the best dressed crew and runner up.
On Saturday RGYC assisted the Marine Mammal Society by providing a camera boat to   help record the deployment of an acoustic sensor to help in their research into the rare Burrunan dolphins. For more information go to their website https://www.marinemammal.org.au/burrunan-dolphin

WELCOME DANIELLA
My name is Daniella D’Amore, I am very excited to be a part of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club event team as the Volunteer Coordinator. With many years of experience working on events I look forward to collaborating with the respective areas that put together the Royal Geelong Yacht Club’s Festival of Sails – 26th to 29th January 2023.
After the past few years we look forward to hosting the event again. We are at an exciting stage of the planning for Festival of Sails 2023. An integral part of the success of any major event is its volunteers. If you are considering helping out throughout the festival please register your details online on website: (rgyc.com.au/membership/volunteering) or contact me directly majorevents@rgyc.com.au
As it stands, some members and non-members have already registered their interest in providing support. However, we welcome more people to come aboard. Your participation is valued and genuinely appreciated.
As well as introducing myself, I’d like to inform you that I work on a part-time basis; therefore, I will do my best to return your calls or emails asap.  If you require a more immediate response, contact the Events Team: info@rgyc.com.au or 5229 3705.

Sailing - Weekly Wrap

A full bay of racing on Saturday saw Alpha & Charlie racing over Windward Leeward courses. Reverie and Time Out took home the chocolates on Alpha Course with Tiger having a perfect 1-1-1- scorecard in the Etchells.
Once again the weather took a bite out of our sailing calendar with last week's Twilight abandoned due to strong winds.
What's the Story and Hot Wire shared the spoils in Saturday's mixed fleet YS results, while newcomers to the 29er fleet Sky & Myles Kumata took home two bullets on handicap. The Cadet Class sailed non-aggregate racing due to their Kingston Sprints at SYC.
