If you're new to a research field, you might not know which journals in the field to trust.

To help with this, we’ve added the SCImago Journal Rank to Elicit! You can now see papers from the most highly regarded journals first by adding "Scimago Journal Rank" as a column and sorting by it.

The SCImago Journal Rank is a measure of the prestige of a journal, based on how many citations its documents received in the previous 3 years (and how prestigious the journals citing its documents are). Here’s a bit more info on it. It's split into quartiles, where Quartile 1 (Q1) means a journal's SCImago score is in the top 25% of journals for its sub-discipline, and Quartile 4 (Q4) means it's in the bottom 25%.

The prestige of a journal is only one indicator of how trustworthy a paper is. If you open a paper in Elicit, you can see information about the study design and possible critiques to help you figure out whether to trust the paper.

I’m really excited to share this, since so many of you have asked for it.

Try it out here, and let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Amanda
