Media Alert: Snow Operations, Cold Weather Relief and Transit Updates
Snow Operations Update
Weather conditions currently vary greatly across the City. Where the north end of the City has received some snow and is relatively clear, the south end of the City has been greatly impacted, along with neighbouring municipalities of Fort Erie, Wainfleet and Port Colborne that are now under States of Emergency. Conditions south of McLeod Road in Niagara Falls remain blizzard-like, including blowing snow, white-out conditions, and at times zero visibility. Extremely hazardous driving conditions exist, and a travel advisory for roads south of McLeod has been issued by the City.

All City of Niagara Falls snow operation crews are presently working on a priority basis, starting with the most highly impacted areas of the City. These efforts are being hampered by heavy drifts, parked cars and poor visibility. Crews need to be able to see the roads to clear them, and crew safety is of great concern.

Please help us help you by staying off the roads, particularly in the south end of the City. Thank you for your cooperation!
