Our biggest challenge came towards the end of the year and we find ourselves in an evolving opportunity to deepen the role of NEMSM in our community. In October, the Board of the National EMS Museum initiated the process of restructuring the leadership and organization of the Museum. While we said thank you and good-bye to some old friends we are excited about the new structure and how this change will continue to allow us to grow into a national museum devoted to the story of EMS in which you all can be proud.
We often say that the story of EMS is well worth telling and we want your story to be our story. In the new year, The National EMS Museum will expand the story of EMS beyond the bonds of 1966. We want to explore the pre-EMS days with you and inspire the next generation of practitioners by highlighting innovations and changes in emergency care, not only historically, but history being made today and shaping tomorrow’s EMS. With your help, we will bring our communities together and build a network of EMS supporters, advocates, and providers that work together to keep our communities healthy, safe and thriving. Most importantly we will help lead the charge to recruit people to the EMS field and celebrate those who work tirelessly every day to provide the care we need when we need it. Together we are the story of EMS, past, present, and future!
Stay tuned to the Museum happenings and news as we run full steam into 2023. While we bring a new team on-board to spearhead new initiatives, we are going to work on making your museum experience more valuable. We have a number of programs under development, a THIRD volume of the EMS Historian is starting to percolate, and exhibits are getting their final touches before we build them for all to enjoy. 2023 is going to be a big year and we need you by our side as we move into a bigger role than we’ve ever had before.
Thank you for being part of our crew. Your support, advocacy, and contributions to the museum are the lifeblood of this organization. We can’t do this without you. As we close out 2023, we wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to our meeting up with you in the new year. And if you get a chance, thank an EMS worker. They work hard for your communities all day, every day - so they deserve it!
Stay safe out there and thank you for being the awesome Museum Friend that you are!
