Six Chief Parts

Issue 95

When you read this we will be two months into our new year but also one day into a different kind of new year. We will still be celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas even though the world has long since moved on. The secular and the religious have recently so crowded your calendar that you might be having trouble figuring out exactly what you are supposed to be celebrating.

The preacher who likes to take note of the holidays that he finds on his desk calendar will have his hands full with lots of services or sermons that might suffer from a sort of identity crisis. What’s a guy to emphasize?

Thank God for Epiphany! On January 6th we start a season of celebration and learning that focusses our attention. If the last few weeks of comings and goings have left you confused by the cacophony of messages, you will find Epiphany at Concordia to be truly helpful. We will shine a light on what God has done and is doing now that he has taken on flesh in order to dwell among us. Prepare to be enlightened over the next four Sundays and consider joining us for a special Epiphany service at 6pm on Friday, January 6th.

In His Grace,

Rev. Dave Wiist
