Phwoar, another year has flown by and to wrap it up we are excited to share our final Software Newsletter of 2022. On behalf of the Open Food Network Australia team, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support and wish you a happy festive season.

Software improvements


📌 New Funded Feature - The UK platform users have funded the 'Control shipping and payment methods in an Order Cycle' feature


Enterprises can select which shipping and payment methods to make available to customers on order cycles in Edit Order Cycle > step 4. Checkout Options. Need help? View how here.

This has a number of benefits for all platform users:

  • You can select a ‘national courier’ delivery option for an order cycle with non perishable items and a ‘local delivery’ option on an order cycle with all products.

  • You can opt to take cash payments only for orders that will be collected from a physical location like a store.

  • You can allow for multiple collection days each week.

  • It is much easier to create a multi-tiered relationships such as ‘daughter’ hubs that have different product ranges and shipping methods from their parent hub.

  • It is much easier to setup wholesale and retail options for hubs, or ‘daughter’ enterprises that have different product ranges and shipping methods than their parent store or hub.

  • It is easier to set up pre-order cycles by limiting the shipping methods on these order cycles. This is is attractive for sales, holidays and religious festivals.

📌 New Feature - Customer Address is now available via the API

  • The API can now be used to send the customer address (including region and country objects) to the Open Food Network Software Platform. Refer to the Open Food Network API Handbook for more information.

📌 New Feature - HEIGHT, WEIGHT, WIDTH, DEPTH columns in packing reports by customer

  • Enterprises can now use these fields to display volume and weight in their packing sheets to help them plan and pack efficiently. Need help? View how here.

📌 New Feature - Create a component to display/hide columns for report

  • We have improved the UX to Show/Hide Columns in Reports. Users can now select/unselect the column(s) to be shown is report. Need help? View how here.

📌 Enhancement - Shop URL is now clickable in the admin dashboard

  • The Shop URL is now clickable in the admin dashboard. This makes it easier for enterprises to view their store when they are configuring it.

📌 Enhancement - Updates to Packing and Payment Reports

  • Usability improvements have been made to the packing and payment reports. On Packing reports dates are now pre-filled, which removes the need to manually click and select dates.

  • For payment reports, the currency symbol has been removed from the report results.

📌 Enhancement - Consistent display of tax on invoice templates

  • The way tax is displayed on invoice templates has been updated to improve readability.

📌 Enhancement - Show the number of orders selected on the orders screen

  • Use promo and logo images in your listing.

  • Ensure your listing has a great description.

  • Put links to your store on digital assets you own (website, social media, email footers, email marketing etc.).

  • Link back to your website, social media accounts and newsletter opt in form through your Open Food Network listing.
